Fluorite - clear dodecahedral crystals with internal crystals
Huanggang Mine, Chifeng Prefecture, Hexigten Banner, Ulanhead League
Inner Mongolia Region, China
4.4 x 3.8 x 3.2 CM (miniature)
A textbook perfect miniature specimen with an impact far bigger than its size. While the external form is outstanding, the insides of the Fluorites clearly show incredible, sharp, inclusions of perfect pink Dolomite rhombs. The matrix of Dolomite, Calcite and Sphalerite adds nice contrast to the glassy Fluorites. In perfect condition damage-wise which is very rare. Some faces show a secondary etching while others are perfectly smooth and transparent. The 26 sided crystals are a perfect model for this less common habit. Best appreciated in person, a very choice example of why Huanggang is the most significant mineral locality in China today.
