Paravauxite and Wavellite on Quartz
stock #20.FC-007-(9086)
Siglo XX mine, Llallagua, Bustillos Province
Potosi, Bolivia
10.4 x 7.3 x 4.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $1450
Early summer 2021

A superb large cabinet specimen of very fine aesthetic composition. A plate of Quartz crystals are entirely encrusted with tiny sparkling prisms of clear Paravauxite and a few scattered balls of Wavellite. In fantastic condition as seen, this is a very rich specimen of these two Phosphates and has a subtle creamy yellow to greenish tint best seen in person. The balls of Wavellite reach 1.5 CM and are composed of creamy radiating crystals with a pearly luster. The Paravauxite crystals are more equant prisms than the typical flat habit, the luster and transparency is excellent. Though those crystals are small the overall display impact and three dimensional architecture is superb for the specie.

Andorite (exceptional large crystals) with Zinkenite
stock #7-BOL-199-(stk)
San Jose Mine, Oruro
Oruro Department, Bolivia
4.7 x 3.5 CM (miniature)
price: $1100
new year 2021

A fine and attractive specimen of this rare Lead, Silver, Antimony "black ugly" mineral. Until the 2004 find, Andorites were one of the rarer Sulfosalts and crystals were always quite tiny. This piece is from that discovery and unusually esthetic, excellent for the size, condition and distinct form of these crystals. The metallic luster and steel to brassy hues are as good as these ever get. Ex Kosnar, there are now very few of this caliber to be found. An outstanding example of this rare Silver specie.

Sulphur - unusual large skeletal crystal
stock #8.AE-1008
El Desierto Mine, San Pablo de Napa, Daniel Campos Province
Potosi, Bolivia
5.7 x 3.2 x2.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $380
new year 2021

Very odd, single large etched crystal of Sulphur, complete all around and complexly stepped. Bright color and in perfect condition, this high elevation locality at one time produced a few fantastic world class Sulphur crystals. Sulphur is a common element world wide but there are few good crystal localities. The former mines in Sicily, Russia and Bolivia were the greatest sources and specimens from each are completely different. The legendary Rock Currier was very involved in importing Sulphur specimens from here years ago. When we visited the locality in 2012 it was completely shut down with nobody there. I am not sure if it has worked since. This specimen is from over 25 years ago.

Copper pseudomorph after Aragonite
stock #20.1-302-(LW1064)
Corocoro, Pacajes Province
La Paz, Bolivia
1.3 x 1.2 x .5 CM (thumbnail)
price: $190
new year 2021

A perfect small thumbnail of native Copper that has faithfully replaced a hexagonal Aragonite crystal. The Aragonite form is textbook perfect and the patina is a choice red copper hue. No damage, complete all around this is both sharper and with better color than usually seen. These pseudomorphs were found more than 30 years ago and not since. Ex Larry White collection.

Bismuthinite with Stannite etc
stock #19.1-858
Tasna Mine,
Potosi, Bolivia
5.4 x 3.2 x 1.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $260

A complex small specimen with two main large Bismuthinite crystals that are covered with tiny crystals of Stannite and Marcasite. The specimen also has areas of Chalcopyrite as well as some tiny needle crystals of Bismuthinite that seems to be a later generation. A choice example of the thicker type of Bismuthinite crystals and a nice association of these two Sulfides. From a recent find that was premiered in Munich in October 2019.

Pyrargyrite with Polybasite, Siderite, Pyrite
stock #18.1-409
Porco, Agua de Cstilla, Quijarro Province
Potosi, Bolivia
3.4 x 2.2 x 1.1 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $400

A lustrous cluster of mostly Pyargyrite crystals that at first glance appear a silvery black color. Strong light shows some brilliant red zones of ruby silver, and with magnification are some classic twinned Polybasite crystals as well. Minimal matrix, the associated Sulphides are only seen with magnification. Some edge chipping is noted, not easy to see by naked eye (this is a brittle mineral ) but the main crystals are in fine condition, some with textbook forms. The Pyrargyrites have some unusual habits on this piece, it is an attractive small miniature with very bright flash., could trim to a very strong thumbnail if desired

Cassiterite variety Needle Tin
stock #18.1-104
Minera Monserrat, Challapampa, Poopo Province
Oruro Department, Bolivia
5.6 x 5.5 x 3.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $160
Spring update

A very unusual specimen from Boliva that looks like an old Cornish "needle tin". A three dimensional matrix densely covered with delicate accicular crystals of brown Cassiterite. In fine condition as seen, ex. Hitchings collection. Especially impressive under magnification, this is an uncommon habit and a well crystallized example.

Vivianite - single gemmy crystal
stock #18.1-105
Tomokoni Mine, Machacamarca District
Potosi, Bolivia
4.5 x 2.3 x 1.3 CM (miniature)
price: $325
Spring update

A gem clear single crystal with excellent dark green to bluish color, and glass-like luster. Sharp and elegant, this is at its best with some backlight to bring out the inner colors. On the backside some small matrix is adhering, but mostly this is a single, loose crystal. Typical curving of the termination can be seen at some angles. Choice older specimen from 1980 vintage finds, excellent condition.
