Mimetite
stock #13.1-145
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
5.3 x 3.7 x 2.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $480
Spring 23

A fine "wet-look" Mimetite in elongated balls and fingers covers a contrasting matrix. Excellent color and luster in fine condition. The surfaces have a distinct sparkle as well. From the find about 7 years ago at Mina Ojuela, these look very much like the prized San Pedro Corralitos Mimetite from the 1980 era. As these are a more recent discovery the price for a fine piece like this are considerable less than the older material yet the look is very similar.

Brochantite - a modern Mexican classic
stock #16.1-078
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
6.3 x 3.4 x 1.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $950
Spring 23

Brilliant, lustrous Emerald-green mass of well-formed crystals on minimal matrix. From the world class find about 8 years ago at Milpillas, these were huge news in the mineral world at that time. They have since become very scarce on the market in such quality. The crystals reach over 1.2 CM long and are fairly stout so the specimen is not as fragile as many were. The style and esthetic feel of these Brochantites are unlike any others worldwide, this is a very choice example.

Wulfenite - modern classic Mexican
stock #22.1-270
Ahumada Mine, Los Lamentos
Chihuahua, Mexico
10 x 8.7 x 4.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $650
Spring 23

Sharp, lustrous wet-looking Wulfenite crystals cover a large matrix face. Fine early specimen from the famed Los Lamentos finds, this one is late 1960s era. The crystals have the deep orange color that is indicative and most desirable from this locality. The shape of the crystals (cube like blocky habit) is also classic from this locality. This is in fine condition overall with dozens of crystals in perfect shape and only a few tiny spots of chipping that are not obvious in any normal display.

Chalcopyrite with Galena - classic Mexican
stock #0123-JM-3321
Concepcion del Oro
Aguascalientes, Mexico
8.5 x 5.4 4.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $2200
Spring 23

Fine large Chalcopyrite crystals are surprisingly rare worldwide. This is a superb piece and outstanding from this old Mexican locality. Zacatecas is a classic locale and it has been noted for some fine Chalcopyrites, probably the best ever found in Mexico and among the best from all of North America. These are superb crystals, sharp, sizable and with a great patina. Overall the esthetics and arrangement are superb on this piece. Ex John Marshall collection, this has small Quartz and some minor Galena as well. The largest twin is almost 4 CM across but 2 CM is more typical. This is certainly an important Mexican specimen, the crystals are equal to the very best we have seen in any museum. It dates back to the 1970 era.

Vanadinite var Endlichite
stock #AX-11-271
Mina El Gallo, Santa Eulalia
Chihuahua, Mexico
5.9 x 4.5 x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $320
Fall 22

Clusters and branching groups of elongated, tapered crystals of Vanadinite from a find about 7 years ago. From Mina El Gallo in the Santa Eulalia system, this find produced a small but impressive lot of pointed Vanadinites. This piece has two distinct sides, one has a coating of the crystals by orange iron oxides the other side is uncoated, lustrous and light green to yellow in color. Close exam will find a few bruised tips but the vast majority are perfect and quite esthetic. Displays very well, a choice Mexican Vanadinite.

Vanadinite var. Endlichite
stock #AC-014
Ahumada Mine, Los Lamentos
Chihuahua, Mexico
7.7 x 6.3 3.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $350
Fall 22

From this famed Mexican classic locality better known for fine Wulfenites, there were also some excellent Vanadinites. The Arsenian variety Endlichite was predominent and some of the best were found in the 1960 era. These are almost never seen on the market anymore in any quality. This piece is from that time and very esthetic. Ex Immer Cook collection. This is well-defined, with perfect elongated crystals covering a large face of the matrix. The crystals are barrel shaped and many have hoppered terminations with central canals or holes going quite deep into the prisms. In fine condition and very three dimensional in person, a nice classic Mexican specimen.

Mottramite covering Wulfenite
stock #22.1-033
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
4.4 x 3.4 x1.7 CM (miniature)
price: $350
Fall 22

A miniature with great form and an unusual combination of specie. The specimen is fully covered by Mottramite in a botryoidal form that has enclosed underlying Wulfenite crystals. The form of the Wulfenite blades is still evident but they are not visible on the specimen surface. A very unusual replacement, and another example of the amazing processes that have taken place at Mina Ojuela. No damage and a fine example of Mexican Mottramite.

Hemimorphite - older find
stock #22.1-647
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
5.3 x 4.4 x 2.7 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $480
Fall 22

Exceptional and esthetic NATURAL Hemimorphite from finds about 15 years ago at Mina Ojuela. In fine, undamaged condition there are two generations seen here with the larger free standing crystals being the only ones with color. The light green-blue hue came from a small find of fully natural color caused by Copper Carbonates in the area. Many people know that a few years ago some artificially dyed (faked) Hemimorphite with a vivid blue color came into the market. It was at first accepted as natural since the mine had at one time produced these lighter color natural Hemimorphite. This is a choice example of the now rare natural color Hemi from Mina Ojuela, looks fine from any angle too.
