Anatase - classic location and form
stock #21.1-530
Hardanngervidda, West, Odda, Ullensvang
Vestland, Norway
1.4 x .6 x ..7 CM (thumbnail)
price: $180
Spring 23

A very sharp dark Anatase crystal with a bluish color from the classic Norwegian locality of Hardangervidda. In excellent condition and with fine luster on many of the faces. The area that holds these is quite vast but now nearly all of the well-known spots are in a National Park and no collecting has been done for many years. Although this area had some active mines long ago, the Anatase was only found in the occasional Alpine cleft and not in general mining. These crystals have been prized for well over 150 years and are in all great museums.

Zircon- famed locality, gemmy crystals
stock #17.1-806
Store Kufjord, Seiland Island, Alta
Finnmark, Norway
8.4 x 7.3 x 4.9 CM (cabinet)
price: $1400
Post Tucson 2022

A fine matrix specimen of Zircon crystals in a dark "Biotite" matrix from the famed Norwegian locality of Store Kufjord. The largest crystal (2 CM) stands at the top of the matrix making a focal point. This shows excellent red-brown color, bright luster and textbook form. No damage. The main crystal stands up free from the matrix so light will pass through it and shows sections that are transparent though most is translucent. There are 5 other crystals showing as well and all have excellent form and color, with the largest being 1.4 CM. This locality has been noted as one of the world's great Zircon sources since it was discovered about 50 years ago. Although some much large crystals were found over the years, nearly all had either damage or rough contacts on edges. This piece is far better than average from the find with clean sharp faces, edges, and esthetic impact with distinctive form.

Silver- wires in and on Calcite. Classic locale
stock #18.1-242
Kongsberg Silver mining district, Kongsberg
Buskerud, Norway
2.6 x 1.8 x .9 CM (thumbnail)
price: $290
Worldwide mix summer

A very sweet thumbnail of crystalline Calcite shot through with wire Silver. From Kongsberg, this piece was in the collections of Ernie Schlichter and Larry White. Classic habit from this classic locale, the specimen displays well from several angles. Excellent dark patina on the wires adds a good contrast to the white Calcite

Talc- ps after Enstatite crystal- excellent classic
stock #18.1-199
Bamble (Bamle)
Telemark, Norway
3.9 x 2.6 x 1.3 CM (miniature)
price: $360
Spring update

Superb pseudomorph in a complete crystal, double terminated and far sharper than any other I have seen. Classic specimen with a Wards label dating this to over 100 years ago, (after 1913 shortly after George English began to work there). The label bears his handwriting. The Talc is the Steatite variety and more hard than other Talc so the condition of the replacement is nearly perfect. A fine piece for a Pseudomorph suite, and a great old classic on its own.

Anatase - fine crystal from classic locale
stock #16.1-179
Valdres
Oppland, Norway
2.6 x 1.3 x 1.1 CM (thumbnail)
price: $190
Pre Holiday 2017

A super thumbnail with a very sharp, lustrous Anatase estheticly perched on matrix. In fine condition as seen, there is one minor contact on a backside but no damage. Norwegian Anatase are some of the best in the world and are now classics. Choice.

Silver - Kongsberg type wire habit

Kongsberg Silver mining district, Kongsberg
Buskerud, Norway
4.6 x 2.1 x 1 CM (miniature)
price: $875
Winter 2016-17

A single stout wire of Native Silver showing the ropey textures that are typical of Kongsberg wires. Very nice patina and with some extra delicate offshoots, the thickest part of the wire is about 5mm. An attractive classic Kongsberg Silver.
