Aurichalcite
stock #19. AX-886
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
5.7 x 5 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $390

A dense carpet of bright blue-green needle crystals of Aurichalcite on Gossan Matrix. An older Mina Ojuela specimen, this is in impressive condition for such an obviously fragile mineral. This locality has been a source of world class Copper, Lead and Zinc minerals for centuries. Especially amazing under magnification, this small cabinet specimen has a rich three dimensional character and displays well.
Adamite (Cuprian)
stock #19.1-877
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
4.5 x 3.4 x 2.6 CM (miniature)
price: $260

Rich color and bright luster, a fine druse of sharp Adamite crystals on a Gossan Matrix. A few small Calcites and some areas of Conichalcite are also present. The Cuprian Adamite from here are now considered the worlds best by far and can be very esthetic. For years Cuprian Adamite was also known from Tsumeb and was also very attractive but recent studies have shown those should in fact are Zinco-Olivenite. This miniature has two well-crystallized areas that are on opposite sides of the matrix. This specimen is in excellent condition the blue green color is especially bright and this has a good display impact despite the small size.
Legrandite with Smithsonite etc.
stock #18.AX-10-952
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango,
4.2 x 3 x 2.7 CM (miniature)
price: $110

Small but bright, sharp and gemmy free standing crystals of bright yellow Legrandite. These crystals line a vug with a druse of smaller more pale Legrandites as a background. A small area of Smithsonite in Scalenohedral crystals is also noted on the back of the matrix. This is an older specimen from 1970 vintage finds. Magnification reveals a few broken crystals at the edge but those in the central area are complete and perfect. A very good budget specimen.
Austinite
stock #19.1-753
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
4.8 x 4.3 x 2.4 CM (miniature)
price: $800

Austinite is usuall only seen as micro crystals but the finds at Mina Ojuela were by far the best and largest ever found. This is a superb example of the radial crystals of large size and in perfect condition. Esthetic, bright well perched balls of sparkling crystals stand out on the matrix. This Austinite was part of a single small pocket found in 2018, none had been seen for many years. This is far better than typical material and a very choice example.
Adamite - Manganoan on yellow/green
stock #19.1-262
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
2.8 x 2.6 x 1.5 CM (thumbnail)
price: $1150

Killer thumbnail of sharp Manganoan Adamite crystals clustered like a crown on a base of lemon yellow to green Adamites. The Manganoan crystals have light purple and reddish-pink zones with glassy luster, transparent in areas. . Ex collections of Willard Perkins (inventor of the Perky box) and Kay Robertson. In excellent condition, the display side is perfect and competition grade, the backside is contacted where it grew on host rock. With all the fine Adamites to come out of Ojuela it can be hard to find one that is exceptional or stands out. This one is top level with a unique form.
Mimetite with Calcite- older specimen
stock #18-AX-10-590
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
5.8 x 4.5 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $190

A Mimetite from older (1962-64) finds at Mina Ojuela that looks very different from most later materials. The Mimetites are unusually sharp and lustrous, many prisms with hoppered terminations. The crystals are brilliant yellow on one side of the specimen and a dull brown on the other side. Mixed in are several small Calcite rhombs which are transparent too. Most of the crystals are perfect and undamaged but there also spots with damage that keeps this far less pricey. Although not very easily seen without magnification they are there. These older Mexican Mimetites are unlike the later and larger finds that are very well known (San Pedro Coralitos etc), these are not the usual rounded form but are more glassy and quite prismatic.
Adamite
stock #6.2-1052
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
5 x 4.1 x 1.1 CM (miniature)
price: $380

Inter-connected half-balls of bright green Adamite forming a plate with minimal matrix. The balls have bright luster and are composed of distinct small curved crystals. Early 1960 vintage specimen from Mina Ojuela, the backside of this is flattened being contacted with a minor amount of adhering matrix. The front is in fine, undamaged condition. Distinctly different from more recent finds and brightly fluorescent.
Cerussite - blue-green inclusions
stock #18AX-29-114
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
6.8 x 4.4 x 4.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $490
Spring 2019

An incredible Ojuela Cerussite that is a mix of colorless, green and nearly black Cerussite crystals with minimal matrix of Sulfides, mostly Pyrite. From a find about 5 years ago there were not many as fine as this. Slender, flattened and blocky prismatic habits with and without twinning in exceptional condition. The quality is amazing for this delicate mineral. The darkest Cerussites are included by a dark Sulfide, probably Galena. The green-blue color is an especially nice touch when seen on the clearest crystals. This could be trimmed to a killer miniature but the overall specimen seems to have greater mineralogical interest if kept intact.
