Apatite
stock #19.1-369
Dassu, Braldu Valley, Skardu District, Baltistan
Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan
2.8 x 1.8 x 1.5 CM (thumbnail)
price: $750

Esthetic thumbnail pink Apatite in a sculptural arrangement. The previous owner called this "The policeman" since with imagination at several angles it looks like a human figure. No matter the anthropomorphic ideas, it is a fine complete cluster of well formed, undamaged Apatite crystals, vividly fluorescent. All are doubly terminated. The terminations all show a fine edge modification having a bevel across all faces. Absolutely one of a kind, I consider it a competition grade thumbnail.
Apatite- gem clear in Calcite
stock #19.1-290
Liscombe Deposit, Monmputh, Haliburton County
Ontario, Canada
3.2 x 2.4 x 1.4 CM (thumbnail)
price: $330

A killer thumbnail from the Liscombe Deposit in Ontario, Canada which in the seventies produced a few exceptional gem Apatites. Some of the best were in a contrasting light pink Calcite. This is a small, perfect example, doubly terminated (the terminations are typically a little rounded as seen) and fully transparent. The faces have a bright glassy luster and the color is vibrant. This does fit in a thumbnail box and is in perfect condition, unrepaired and better in person.
Apatite (Fluorapatite) on Albite
stock #19.1-298
Dassu, Braldu Valley, Skardu District, Baltistan
Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan
2.8 x 1.9 x 2 CM (thumbnail)
price: $140

A clear pink Apatite with a wispy phantom nicely exposed on a white Albite matrix. Intense yellow Fluorescence and a clean, glassy luster add to the interest of this choice thumbnail. Displays fine from several angles, this is in excellent condition.
Apatite (Fluorapatite)
stock #19.1-244
Golconda Pegmatite district, Govenador Valadares
Minas Gerais, Brazil
4 x 2.6 x 1.7 CM (miniature)
price: $260
Spring 2019

A cluster of stacked, flat, parallel position Apatite crystals in a sculptural arrangement. The color is a light pink to violet hue depending on lighting. In quite good condition all around this is crystalized on all sides so is a "floater". One tiny area was perhaps at one time a point of attachment but it has recrystallized so is no longer evident. This has an especially intense yellow fluorescence that is brighter than any I can recall. A choice and affordable small miniature.
Apatite (fluorapatite)
stock #18.1-703
Okatjimukulu Farm 56, Karibib Region
Erongo Region, Namibia
3.1 x 3 x 1.7 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $360
Spring 2019

Flattened hexagonal crystal of deep purple zoned Apatite without matrix. From the finds several years back in the Karibib area of Namibia, this has an etched, frosted luster and good translucency. The crystal is not complete on all edges (typical for this find) but it is undamaged and shows complex recrystallization on some edges. The color is super intense in person, a very nice sizable purple Apatite.
Apatite (Fluorapatite in unusual form)
stock #16.1-245
Golconda Pegmatite district, Govenador Valadares
Minas Gerais, Brazil
4.1 x 1.6 x 1.3 CM (miniature)
price: $220
Dec 2018

A strange form for this unusual gemmy pink Apatite from Golconda. This is a complete floater with no matrix or points of attachment, and no damage either. The crystal is curved and tapered with twisting evident as well. Certainly odd and far from typical, there is also a fadden-like inclusion running the length of the crystal clearly seen with any backlighting.
Apatite (CaF)
stock #18.1 -388
Sapo Mine, Goiabeira
Minas Gerais, Brazil
5.7 x 4.2 x 4.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $450
Late Summer 2018

A fine cluster of Apatite (Fluorapatite) crystals with a silky luster and a hint of zoning. From the remarkable Sapo Mine which has been the source of many different forms and types of Apatite, but is now closed. An older specimen, this habit and color were quite uncommon. Very esthetic, there is a natural crack (not a repair) and contact on the backside that is out of sight from the display side. There is no damage, a very clean specimen. A few Muscovite books are the only matrix, the cluster of crystals are well isolated and the composition is elegant.
Apatite (CaF)
stock #18.1-391
Sapo Mine, Goiabeira
Minas Gerais, Brazil
5.2 x 3.5 x 2.2 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $390
Late Summer 2018

Stacked hexagonal prisms with super glassy faces and a deep green color. A Sapo mine specimen that in some ways looks like a Panasquira Apatite. Sapo produced many styles of Apatite over the years, this is a choice example of the non-tabular oriented type of prisms vintage 2004. Sadly the mine is not working anymore. In excellent undamaged condition, a pretty and esthetic arrangement.
