Calcite- classic locale and habit
stock #19.1-785
Fontainebleau, Seine-et Marne
Ile-de-France, France
5.7 x 3.5 x 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $330

From the famed ancient locale of Fontainebleau this is a choice example of the classic "Sand Calcite". Two complete clusters of these sharp stacked crystals are complete on all sides with no damage. These Calcites are distinctive and are immediately recognizable. Looks fine on all sides.
Calcite "butterfly twins" with Hematite
stock #18.1-657
Leiping Mine, Leiping, GuiyangCo., Chenzhou Prefecture
Hunan Province, China
4.3 x 3.2 x 2.7 CM (miniature)
price: $280

A juxtaposed pair of "butterfly" twin Calcites with bright faces, fine clarity and red Hematite phantoms. From the last mining at Leiping, these are excellent examples from this locality. These twins made big news in the mineral world when found in 2002, partly because they looked so much like the classic British twins from over a century ago. Sharp. clean and elegant these are modern classics that look like the vintage old world classics.
Calcite - intense red
stock #19.1-281-(6035)
Santa Eulalia, Aguiles Serdan
Chihuahua, Mexico
9.7 x 5.7 x 3.1 (cabinet)
price: $800

A stunning piece from the collection of Rock Currier, his label number 6035 is included. The fingers of Calcite reach up to 5 CM and host many hundred of transparent crystals that are included with intense red Hematite. The glittering effect is really impressive in person and this is a superb Santa Eulalia specimen with great visual impact. In fine condition as seen, the red fingers contrast with the colorless Calcite of the matrix. With magnification the Calcite are seen to be in several habits and many have red phantoms inside. A few later generation colorless Calcite twins are perched on the red crystals adding a nice accent. An excellent addition to any good Mexican suite or Calcite collection. A well chosen pieces, these do not get any more colorful than this.
Aragonite on Calcite on Fluorite
stock #19.1-363
Cave-in-Rock, Hardin County
Illinois, United States
6.3 x 3.9 x 3.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $170

An unusual old specimen from Cave in Rock, southern Illinois. Etched Yellow Fluorite with a hint of purple zoning is the matrix for a treelike spray of slender spikey Calcite crystals that are coated with secondary aragonite. Some of the Calcites have stair-stepped epitaxial growths along the prisms. Ex Larry Conklin with his label, This looks very much like some Minerva #1 mine specimens but Conklins laberl only lists Cave in Rock. A delicate, sculptural piece that is also somewhat fluorescent.
Calcite -"Mushroom habit"
stock #7AE-470
Fengjiashan Mine (Daye Copper Mine), Edong District, Daye County, Huangs
Hubei, China
7 x 5.4 x 4.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $340

From a find in 2005 in Hubei, these mushroom like Calcites made big news then in the mineral world. We sold this example at that time and it is now back with us to be offered again. This is colored on some faces by inclusions of Hematite which adds a nice contrast. The display face is in fine condition with no visible damage, but there is a notable cleave on back of the left side that is seen from that side, and the bottom is broken at an angle so the base is also cleaved. Despite that cleave this is still an attractive displayable specimen that shows the form perfectly. The "stem" has a series of flat Calcite tabular crystal ridges that are more deeply colored red.
Calcite - color zoned with phantoms
stock #7AE-144
San Antonio Mine, Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua, Mexico
10.8 x 7.9 x 3.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $360

A striking color zoned Calcite from the San Antonia Mine, Santa Eulalia. This was mined about 20 years ago, and shows two generations of Calcite with different habits. Brilliant red color and with bright luster, the red is most likely from Hematite. The display face is in excellent undamaged condition, the only damage is along the outer edges where it was removed but even that is minimal. A distinctive, colorful Mexican piece that is much more impressive in person.
Calcite with Realgar inclusions
stock #6.2-066
Shimen (Jiepiayu) Mine, Shimen County, Changde Prefecture
Hunan Province, China
11x7x4CM (cabinet)
price: $2250

Simply incredible! A brilliant red cluster of calcite on matrix with small realgar crystals. Killer esthetics. We obtained this at the mine in 2003 and sold it shortly after- it was the best of the find. Since then we have not seen anything like this. We are pleased to have it back again for resale, The largest calcite crystal is 7.2 CM, and the piece displays well from multiple angles, but it does have a cleave on the backside. The red color on the calcite is from both a coating and inclusions that is primarily realgar, some recent analysis of similar materials have fund trace amounts of some rare rsenic minerals, this one has not been tested for those. Really striking color, the display side has no noticable damage. This will really jump out of any calcite display!
Calcite
stock #13.1-152
North Vernon, Jennings County
Indiana, United States
4 x 2.5 x 2.3 CM (miniature)
price: $130
Spring 2019

An amber to cognac color Calcite perched on smaller crystals. Excellent transparency and form, this area of Indiana has a very distinctive habit to the Calcites that were found here in past years. The faces have a glassy yet melted look some are slightly rounded while others are perfectly flat. Close to perfect but a few tiny edge rubs are noted, though not easily found with naked eye, the display presentation is excellent.
