Manganocalcite- pagoda style
stock #AX-15-104
Manoshan Mine, Dongpo, Suxian District, Chenzoh area
Hunan Province, China
10 x 9.1 x 5.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $650
Spring update

Pagoda style calcite towers formed of stacked flat disklike rhombs. The color is a pale pink and the Calcite has a vivid red Fluorescence. Very sharp and undamaged on the display face, broken on the back underside where it was removed. An older specimen ex Shields Flynn collection, from a 2004 find. In this fine condition, these are very uncommon, and very esthetic in any sort of display.

Calcite
stock #17.1-125
Langyang Mine
Fujian Province, China
6.7 x 4.7 x 4 CM (cabinet)
price: $440
Pre Holiday 2017

A stacked habit style of Calcite from a 2016 find in Fujian, China. Resembling a pagoda or a stack of umbrellas, this habit is very distinctive, and this small cabinet specimen is in excellent condition. A delicate pink to tan color, this turns a vivid red in SW ultraviolet light. The cap or top of the stack has an especially odd form with a zoned inclusion.

Calcite with Sphalerite and Quartz etc.
stock #A-27-132
Borieva Mine, Madan, Rhodope Mts.
Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria
4.6 x 3.9 x 3.5 CM (miniature)
price: $170
Pre Holiday 2017

A delicate specimen in excellent condition with very pale pink (mangano) Calcites on a matrix of needle Quartz, lustrous Sphalerites and Pyrite. An attractive and nicely composed specimen from the great Madan deposits of Bulgaria. To my taste the Sulfide deposits of this region have produced the most esthetic examples of many species. This is a small but striking piece with quite remarkable slender Quartz that are decorated with tiny crystals of Sphalerite as well.

Calcite - classic British
stock #16.1-1270
Bigrigg mine, West Cumberland Iron field
Cumberland, Cumbria, England
3.1 x 1.7 x 1.6 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $140
Spring 2017

A clear sharp single scalenohedron from the famed Bigrigg Mine. From an older European collection this is at least 80 years old but likely much older. There is a number attached that could be removed if desired. Quite clean by naked eye but some contacts and rough bits found with magnification, all under 1mm. Not perfect but looks it, and not expensive as is often the case with these old finds.

Calcite (extra gemmy on fossil Clam shell)
stock #AX-19-107
Rucks Pit, Fort Drum, Okeechobee
Florida, United States
6.9 x 5 x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $600
Winter 2016-17

An exceptional specimen the most perfect, colorful and gemmy Calcite I have seen from the closed Rucks Pit fossil clam locality. From early finds at this now classic location, an ex Arkenstone specimen, the luster and transparency are hard to capture in a photo. A small amount of the original clam shell fossil forms the base of this piece, the crystals had grown inside the clam but are now exposed. Unlike most of the thousands of specimens from here this is in the top .001 percent!

Calcite on Quartz (Amethyst)
stock #16.1-278
Mina Peregrina, Guanajuato
Guanajuato, Mexico
8.4 x 6.4 x 4.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $330
Winter 2016-17

Bright glassy clear crystals of light pink-violet Calcite perched on a contrasting Amethyst matrix. Classic material from Guanajuato, this is quite eye-catching. In excellent condition, there is a single clean repair that is super hard to find, that needs to be mentioned. This keeps the price low yet this displays like it cost far more.

Calcite w. Hematite
stock #15.1-992-(SM4995)
Daye Iron Mine, Edong Mining District, Huangshi Prefecture
Hubei Province, China
6.1 x 3 x 4.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $330

Hematite included Calcite crystal with fine color, luster and an overall esthetic presentation. This is an unusual form twin that is completely different from any others I have seen from Daye. With well-developed phantoms, this is in excellent undamaged condition.

Calcite - optically clear single crystal - ex. W. I. Johansson
stock #15.1-719
Charcas
San Luis Potosi, Mexico
4.5 x 3.1 x 2.2 CM (miniature)
price: $300
Winter 2016-17

Slightly frosted on some faces, sharp, clear and in fine condition, this old specimen is from 1960s vintage finds at Charcas. Selective frosting adds to the visual interest and the form is textbook perfect. The termination shows a nice effect with the selected areas outlining a central hexagon. Nothing quite like these Calcites has since been found.
