Smithsonite-
stock #17.1-600
Choix, Municipio de Choix
Sinaloa, Mexico
5 x 3.2 x 1.4 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $330

Top color, a bright pink Smithsonite from an old find at Choix. This small prospect has been the source of some incredible Smithsonites with remarkable colors. This is a really intense "bubble gum" pink even more vivid in person. The delicate botryoidal form is quite three dimensional on this piece. No longer available the locality has become too dangerous for any mining, and in recent years very few good specimens were found as the locale is more or less played out. Great display impact for the size
Smithsonite -Purple
stock #17.1-598
Choix, Municipio de Choix
Sinaloa, Mexico
4.3 x 3.4 x 1.4 CM (miniature)
price: $260

A purple Smithsonite with distinct botryoidal structure and an elegant sculptural form. Purple is perhaps the rarest Smithsonite color and not known from many other localities. From the early finds by Benny Fenn this is a nice miniature that looks fine from either side. Sadly this locality is no longer working as it is quite dangerous at this time. In excellent condition as seen, a nice addition to any suite of Smithsonite or of Mexican minerals.
Smithsonite -very fine Moroccan
stock #19.1-374
Touissit, Touissit-Bou Beker Dist., Jerada Province
Oriental Region, Morocco
10.6 x 7.3 x 4.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $2750

Large cabinet specimen of well crystallized and very lustrous Smithsonite from the Touissit Mine (Morrocco). The crystals are transparent and when magnified many show color zoning and phantom of a reddish core. Botryoidal and "finger" growths are fully covered by sharp, bright crystals. The color is a light green-blue hue and contrasts nicely with the reddish matrix. In fine condition, Smithsonite from this locale have never been very common (the mine has been closed for decades) and now top pieces are quite rare. This is a sizable display specimen with excellent impact, a fine addition to any serious Smithsonite suite or Moroccan collection.
Smithsonite -two toned yellow to green
stock #18.1-686
Xiafu, Zhoaping Co. Henzoh Prefecture
Guangxi Autonomous Region, China
5.1 x 3.4 x 2.9 CM (miniature)
price: $240
Spring 2019

A wet looking luster on this botryoidal Smithsonite with the so-called Cadmium color. From the find in 2016 in Guangxi, China, this is an attractive large miniature with two colors and two different textures. In excellent condition the display side of this has no bruises or issues. These were originally sold as a Cadmium Smithsonite due to the color but later testing shows little to no Cadmium. Still a great color for Smithsonite no matter the source.
Smithsonite with Aurichalcite, Calcite
stock #8AE-618
79 Mine, Hayden, Banner District, Gila County
Arizona, United States
5.5 x 4.8 x 2.9 CM (cabinet)
price: $330
Spring 2019

Bright green rounded crystals of Smithsonite are clustered on botryoidal mounds over the face of this matrix. Wet luster and fine form with a distinctive hue, a choice older 79 Mine Specimen. This has zones of accicular Aurichalcite crystals and Calcite that add contrast and interest. In excellent condition and a very colorful Arizona Smithsonite. Even better in person.
Smithsonite- classic
stock #17.1-583
Kelly Mine, Magdalena
New Mexico, United States
5.6 x 5.3 x 3.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $475
Dec 2018

Kelly Mine Smithsonite with the most desirable wet look luster and good blue color. Ex Hitchings collection this is in fine condition a few of the outer edges show where this was removed but all the display surface is perfect clean and undamaged. A few areas of the white mottling are present which adds a nice contrast. This is a pre 1970 specimen. These have become American classics and there is no other Smithsonite worldwide that has just this look, color and luster.
Smithsonite -
stock #18.1-682
Xiafu, Zhoaping Co. Henzoh Prefecture
Guangxi Autonomous Region, China
7.8 x 6.4 x 4.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $1150
Dec 2018

A colorful and very well formed knob of botryoidal Smithsonite with good yellow color. Choice and three dimensional, this looks great from most any angle. Except at the base where this was removed, there is no damage or bruises on any surface. The satiny luster is especially rich. These have been marketed as "Cadmium" Smithsonite but there have been some different analysis that conflicts with this and some claim that none of the yellow Smithsonites from any deposit owe their color to Cadmium. I suspect the truth is someplace in the middle. I do not know if Cadmium is involved in this specimen or this find but this is the sought after "Cadmium'" color. Excellent eye appeal and overall esthetics, no matter the color source. An excellent value for one of these complete knobs which are quite uncommon and priced far higher when available.
Smithsonite with Mimetite
stock #16.1-672
Tsumeb
Otjikoto Region, Namibia
5.2 x 3.2 x 3 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $360
Dec 2018

Cuprian Smithsonite from Tusmeb fills an open seam on the matrix and has partly covered several golden Mimetite crystals. In fine condition, ex. Loben collection (with label) collected in 1986, close to the end of the Tsumeb era. The Mimetites are the slender pointed type and the overgrowth of the Smithsonite crystals is like a cloak. Great luster and excellent condition, the paragenesis is especially clear on this specimen.
