Albite (v. Cleavelandite) - very fine crystals
stock #19.1-283-(3856)
Virgem do Lapa
Minas Gerais, Brazil
7 x 5.8 x 2.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $750

Large, perfect gem clear crystals of Albite with fine textbook form. Ex Rock Currier collection (label # 3856) this shows well the quality of esthetics that Rock was well known for. It is surprising how few collections or even Pegmatite suites we see have a good example of this common Feldspar. These are almost never so esthetic as seen here, this is a striking piece. Albite/ Cleavlandite is a common mineral, but crystals of this size and perfection are just very rare. These crystals are formed as thin hexagonal plates with beveled edges and transverse striations. The whole group is stacked as an epitaxial cluster and shows brilliant glasslike luster. A killer Feldspar, some edges have a dusting of small rosettes of Muscovite that add a nice contrast. Better in person, the individual crystals exceed 5 CM diameter.
Albite with Fluorapatite
stock #18.1-447
La Marina Mine, Pauna
Boyaca, Colombia
7.2 x 4.8 x 3.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $80
Late Summer 2018

Albite in sharp, glassy, lustrous and mostly transparent are the majority of the specimen. There are a few scattered pink Apatites, the largest about 1 CM, which are also glassy, transparent and in fine condition. From the great find at La Marina Mine, that became famed for the pink Apatites and later for some of the worlds best Euclase. The Albites were sometimes matrix for both of these species and I think under appreciated on their own, they are superb and showy Feldspars. A choice specimen that is well crystalized on both sides and shows off the Albite more than the Apatite.
Gersdorffite with Annabergite
stock #16.1-298
Alt Ahmane, Bou Azer, Tazenakht, Ouarzazate Province
Souss Massa Draa Region, Morocco
4.2 x 3.5 x 2.7 CM (miniature)
price: $760
Spring 2017

Gersdorffite in good or sizable crystals has been super rare until this one small discovery. This is a very fine piece and is the best example we have had from the world class 2014 Bou Azzer find. Sharp lustrous octahedra in a cluster with contrasting green Annabergite shows this Nickel specie well. A brittle mineral, this has some cracks and chipping on some crystals but overall is in exceptional condition. Sharp crystals to 2.3 CM is quite impressive for this specie.
