Apophyllite - Pink
stock #16.1-1266
Guanajuato, Municipio de Guanajuato
Guanajuato, Mexico
8.7 x 6.8 x 4.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $260

A fine crust of Apophyllite crystals with a light pink color and glassy luster. An older piece from Guanajuato with the typical Quartz matrix having amethyst zoning. From the Stanek collection (Brno, Czech republic) we do not see many Guanajuato specimens available, most Mexican pinks are from Zacatecas or Charcas but these were found long before those later finds. In super fine condition.
Pink Apophyllite -Classic German
stock #13.1-035
St. Andreasburg, Harz Mts.
Saxony, Germany
8.8 x 5.9 x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $2400
Spring 2019

A choice old Harz Mountains pink Apophyllite ex Erastus Corning (1794-1872) and Cornell University collections. Corning specimens are quite rare in themselves, he was an important politician, industrialist and the city of Corning is named for him. His interests were broad and included a small but fine mineral collection. Likely a pre 1865 specimen, very glassy with fine color and in remarkably fine condition despite the age of this piece. Fine old pink Apophyllites from St. Andreasburg are one of the most desirable 19th Century classic from western Europe. Excellent value for the size quality and provenance

stock #18AX-21-024
Rahuri, Ahmadnagar District,
Maharashtra, India
7.4 x 4 x 1.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $400
Spring 2019

A fine example of the radiating habit of flat tip green Apophyllite crystals in flowerlike form. The stalk of Stilbite is a choice contrasting matrix for the gem clear Apophyllites. in perfect, undamaged condition the Apophyllites are water clear at the tips and nearly colorless, they grade to a fine mint green lower down and the color is transmitted through the entire crystal. very good value from the second well pocket (there have been at least 4 in 12 years, each a little different). This was a unique small pocket with the fingerlike stalks of Stilbite in stalactitic form.

Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
2.9 x 2.4 x 1.6 CM (thumbnail)
price: $250
Dec 2018

An excellent thumbnail of quite fine Apophyllite from the legendary Jeffrey Mine. World famed for the Garnet and Vesuvianites, Apophyllite is much more rare and almost never available. The crystal here is lustrous and has distinctive well formed striations and stands apart from the matrix well. An worthy addition for a Jeffrey mine suite.

Spring update

A rosette like cluster of flat blocky style Apophyllite crystals to 4.5 CM diameter. Glassy and lustroust with pleasing form and in fine condition from an old collection, this is pre 1950 but likely much older. Classic style and locality, this is a choice, esthetic example.
Apophyllite -partly included by Celedonite
stock #A-27-099
Aurangabad
Maharashtra, India
7.9 x 5 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $140
new june 17

A sculptural arrangement of elongated crystals of Apophyllite with green inclusions and some zoning due to Celedonite inclusions. In fine condition and with great form this stands out among the many average pieces from the famed Deccan traps of India. As fine minerals from many locales have become so incredibly expensive, it is still possible to build a suite of top notch Indian minerals for a relatively modest investment.

A classic specimen from Centreville, Virginia with sharp, well defined white Apophyllite crystals contrasting with green Prehnites. This example is in excellent condition, good display quality for the size and quite affordable for one of these.
Apophyllite (New find!, Bi-colored, Celedonite included)
stock #Alec 21-032
Shirurampur
Maharashtra, India
6.4 x 5.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $280

At last, something really new, pretty and quite different from the Deccan Plateau of India! A very few of these were presented in the Fall Denver show, but the dealers who had them did not agree on the exact location and the prices were often very high. It was a short lived sensation as all were sold quickly. This example is above average quality, with crystals to 2.8 CM, bi-colored both a deep apple green and a brown to purple-red. Nice contrast with the matrix and in perfect condition too. The location listed by one dealer is Shiurampur and for now I will use that information pending a verification. A nice addition for any Zeolite or Indian mineral collection!
