Quartz- Amethyst Phantom
stock #AX-4-432
Goboboseb Mts., Brandberg area,
Erongo Region, Namibia
6.2 x 3.2 x 2.9 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $750
Worldwide mix summer

Gem clear and incredibly perfect, this is a stunning Goboboseb Amethyst that is far better in person. Goboboseb Quartz is world famous for its elegant form but exceptional pieces like this are actually very rare. In impeccable condition and with amazing inclusions this is from that tiny percentage that can be called superb. Sharp negative Quartz crystal inclusions and scepters are seen with magnification inside the lower part of the crystal as are small blood red blades of Hematite. One of the best we have handled, not large in size but quality.

Amethyst scepters included by Lepidocrocite
stock #AX-32-065
Karur
Tamil Nadu, India
3 x 2.3 x .1 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $550
Spring update

Incredible form on this Indian specimen. A radiating burst of amethysts is the base for perfect scepters that are very slender, twisted and have lepidocrocite needles inside some tips with a red color. In pristine condition, no damage seen even with 10x magnification. from the amazing finds at Karur in Tamil Nadu, this level of perfection and esthetics is very very rare. Better in person this piece was selected from many hundreds of good pieces as on a quality level of its own.

Amethyst phantom with Apophyllite crystals
stock #17.1-086
Goboboseb Mts., Brandberg area,
Erongo Region, Namibia
6 x 1.9 x 1.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $750
Pre Holiday 2017

A fine and unusual Brandburg type amethyst crystal in perfect condition, with the very rare addition of Apophyllite crystals on some faces. Classic and esthetic, this is the best example I have seen of this uncommon association. The Apophyllite is gem clear and sharp, most are doubly terminated and all are very lustrous. In the Quartz, movable internal bubbles (enhydro) are a nice bonus. The Goboboseb region has produced lots of Amethysts but the quality, esthetics, condition and the Apophyllites make this one stand out from the crowd. Choice.

Quartz v. Amethyst -
stock #AX-32-053
Karur
Tamil Nadu, India
8 x 6.8 x 4.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $1500
Pre Holiday 2017

An incredibly formed Quartz- a "mushroom cap" style Amethyst on a contrasting matrix (this is not a scepter but more like an umbrella). In outstanding condition with great form and color, this is a very rare habit, I have only seen one other specimen. The Karur diggings have occasionally produced some exotic Quartz and this is a great example of "exotic". Below the fringe line of the cap a few tiny single crystals some sceptered protrude like little fingers. Complex parallel and stacked crystals in radial form join at the peak of the cap in a crude termination of sorts. Even the matrix is unusual, a mix of small crystals of Calcite, Quartz, Albite, Clinoclore etc that is much like some Alpine matrixes. A very special addition for any fine Quartz suite.

Amethyst
stock #17.1-102
Piedra Parada, Las Vigas
Veracruz, Mexico
6.7 x 3.9 x 4.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $460
Spring 2017

From the new (late 2016 early 2017) finds at Las Vigas, a gem clear, incredibly perfect and sharp cluster of Amethyst. Competition grade, the individual crystals reach 4.8 CM and are perfectly transparent, a few internal bubbles are also seen. This classic area has recently produced some superb specimens. This is that rare specimen perfect, undamaged and complete- no issues at all. Far better in person.

HOLD Amethyst - flower form, included by Rutile
stock #HOLD AX-24-405
Karur
Tamil Nadu, India
5.3 x 5.3 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $490
Winter 2016-17

Top rich purple color, fine form and in excellent condition, this is a very choice Karur flower. These radiating clusters of crystals are distinctive, and unlike "flower-like" radiating groups found anyplace else, top pieces can have gem clear deep colored crystals and brilliant luster. This is one of that caliber. Few have such perfect condition and intense color, there is only one tiny spot of chipping on the backside, the front is fully perfect. In addition the crystals are Rutilated, with magnification they are densely filled with red needles of Rutile. Several crystals show scepter forms or the rare hollow hexagonal cavity in the terminations. Very exotic, unusual and pretty specimen.

Amethyst
stock #AX-2-055
Piedra Parada, Las Vigas
Veracruz, Mexico
8.8 x 4.6 x 5.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $420
Fall 2015

Gem clear, sharp zoned Amethyst crystals in a cluster on a thin matrix sits well for display. A modern classic locale, this is an older specimen of 1970's vintage with a little different look than later finds. Excellent deep purple tips and in fine condition. Veracruz Amethysts are some of the most attractive yet affordable Quartz on the market today. Choice.

Amethyst - doubly-terminated floater
stock #AX-20-151
Statesville, Iredell County
North Carolina, United States
10.2 x 8.9 x 5 CM (cabinet)
price: $900
Post Tucson 2015

A complete deep purple colored crystal from Stateside, North Carolina showing complex stepped crystallization and distinctive zoning. Several deep solution pits are also featured in some faces that show excellent layered solution and re-crystallization zones that make for attractive architecture. The large size and deep color are very fine this old locality.
