Quartz - Prase type, with Hedenbergite inclusions
stock #10.1-229
Serifos Island, Cyclade Islands
South Aegean, Greece
7.8 x 2.4 x 1.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $400
Fall 22

Perfect, sharp and well-formed classic habit for a Serifos Quartz. The two side crystals are also sharp, slender and perfect. This locality has been famed for many years and still occasionally produces fine Quartz, but such clean tips have always been rare.

Quartz with Hedenbergite inclusions and Andradite
stock #8.AE-920
Sinerechenskoe, Kavalerovo mining district, Primorsky Krai
Far Eastern Region, Russia
5.2 x 3 x 2.4 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $220
Late Summer 2021

A nice combination specimen of dark green (nearly black from some angles) Quartz clustered on Andradite. The Garnets are tiny sparkling orange color and make a nice contrast. In very good condition as seen, the Quartz shows the classic form where it gets wider toward the termination, yet is not a scepter. Presents well from several angles with a good balance.

Quartz (var. Prase) with Hematite
stock #19.1-085
Serifos Island, Cyclade Islands
South Aegean, Greece
5.6 x 3.9 x 3.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $110
Spring 2019

The Prase type Quartz from Serifos can be especially attractive and is a modern classic. This is a choice small cabinet specimen with good color, form and is in good condition, some chipping is seen on close inspection not visible at several angles but this keeps this price low. A ball of Hematite blades is a nice and rather uncommon addition. The locality still continues to produce some Quartz every few years but these have become quite hard to find at reasonable prices or in anything close to good condition.

Quartz -included by Hedenbergite on Andradite
stock #AX-12-231
Dalnegorsk, Kavalerovo Mining District
Primorsky Kray, Russia
4.7 x 3.1 x 3.7 CM (miniature)
price: $110
Late Summer 2018

A scepter-like Quartz rises from a matrix of tiny orange Andradite Garnets. The Quartz is a deep blue-green, being thickly included by Hedenbergite (some of which sticks out of the Quartz). In fine condition- a cute miniature with a nice contrast. choice specimen that is affordable and esthetic.
