HOLD Axinite
stock #HOLD 20.1-113
New Melones Spillway (Dam site), Calaveras County
California, United States
4.3 x 3.2 x 1 CM (miniature)
price: $290
Spring 2020

A small, super clean matrix plate of perfect, gem clear Axinite crystals. A modern classic from the best find ever made in the USA. Close inspection shows very sharp glassy crystals with several habits many of which are free standing prisms. Smokey red-brown color with fine transparency. Ex collection of Brett Keller, a choice miniature.

Inesite
stock #AX-10-036
Hale Crek Mine, Mad River Rock, Trinity County
California, United States
8.1 x 6.9 x 6.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $800
Late Summer 2018

Superb old USA (California) Inesite with large and very fine crystals lining an open pocket. Hale Creek Inesites could still be collected about 45-50 years ago, but not recently, they are a US classic, rarely available in this quality. This specimen is in fine condition, with prismatic crystals up to 1.7 CM but most are about 1.2 CM (which is huge for the locale and specie). Displays well from several angles, the open vug shows several differing habits and radiating clusters. Ex William Hladysz and Ara Dildillian collections, this is by far the best California Inesite I have seen for sale in 20 years.

Anadalusite in Sericite Shist
stock #AX-35-159
Cargo Muchacho Mountains, Imperial County
California, United States
5.7 x 3.9 x 3.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $300
Late Summer 2018

Something a bit unusual, the main Andalusite crystal is well-formed and over 3.5 CM across. Nice overall composition, the biggest Andalusite is quite well exposed from the Schist. Ex S. Alverson collection, this was collected in 1980, but not at any of the noted mines, just a small prospect. Microscopic exam finds many Hematite crystals and one Kyanite in the matrix as well. A fine, less common California specimen and a nice prismatic crystal of Andalusite.

Elbaite -unusual color
stock #AX-7-(1144)
Himalaya Mine, Gem Hill,Mesa Grande District, San Diego County
California, United States
1.8 x .6 x .7 CM (thumbnail)
price: $130
Worldwide mix summer

A cute Tourmaline thumbnail ex Larry White collection that has a very unusual color and becomes colorless when rotated in polarized light. This is undamaged and very transparent (the photos do not show the transparency well). A nice, glassy little gem crystal that is very unusual for the locale.

Elbaite on Quartz
stock #14.1-185
Himalaya Mine, Gem Hill,Mesa Grande District, San Diego County
California, United States
3 x 1.9 x 1.6 CM (thumbnail)
price: $240
Worldwide mix summer

A fine thumbnail zoned Tourmaline on a doubly terminated Quartz crystal from the classic Himalaya Mine. The Elbaite has a sharp termination on one end but the bottom is incomplete, otherwise sharp and in perfect undamaged condition. Older specimen with a pastel pink body to a dark green cap. Displays well from several angles.

Elbaite - multi color classic Tourmaline
stock #13.1-274
Pala, San Diego Co.
California, United States
4 x 1.4 x 1.2 CM (miniature)
price: $420
Spring 2017

Very good form and color, a single terminated crystal of classic Pala area Elbaite. A single clean repair is noted, so much more affordable than usual. 12.4 grams, pretty much all gem grade with 3 separate color sections. Fully transparent, we did not backlight the photos, so it will be better in person. This had an older price of 775.00.

Morganite Beryl with Elbaite and Lepidolite
stock #15.1-343
White Queen Mine, Pala, San Diego County
California, United States
5.5 x 5.1 x 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $825
Spring 2017

A classic USA Beryl var. Morganite with nice form and a peachy-pink color that contrasts well with the deep purple matrix. Small green Elbaite Tourmalines are scattered on the matrix giving extra color. The largest crystal is 3.8 CM across and quite lustrous. The backside is partly contacted and has adhering Quartz, so the best display is as shown. Attractive, in good overall condition and from the renowned White Queen Mine, this was collected more than 20 years ago but likely is a lot older. A good value for one of these.

Elbaite - bi-color
stock #16.1-017
Mesa Grande, San Diego Co.
California, United States
3.3 x 1 x .7 CM (miniature)
price: $140
Winter 2016-17

Gem clear and quite impressive for the small size, a delicate pastel hue Tourmaline. Formed of two clear crystals one with a perfect termination, the smaller is broken at the tip, hence quite inexpensive. Despite this break the tourmaline still looks quite attractive.
