Vesuvianite
stock #17.AL-507
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
2.7 x 2.4 x 2.6 CM (miniature)
price: $950
pre Tucson 2015 update

A top notch large thumbnail (toenail) of gemmy pointed tip type Vesuvianite with a glass-like luster. Competitive quality with no "naked eye" visible damage; (with magnification there is some damage on tiny crystals of the base), and a fine architecture. This has a lot of visual impact for the small size. The green Vesuvianites from Jeffrey were more common than the purple and other hues, but really good gemmy specimens like this were always rare and now are considered the world's best.
Prehnite & Grossular
stock #AX-27-164
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
4.2 x 2.5 x 1.8 CM (miniature)
price: $1400
pre Tucson 2015 update

Bright green Grossular with bright luster is the matrix for the rare blocky habit Prehnite crystals. Displays well from every side, this is simply an esthetic specimen of a rare and special combination. These were found over 20 years ago in a single zone, there were not many good ones then and now they are highly appreciated. A modern classic from the closed and much missed Jeffrey Quarry.
Vesuvianite - bi-colored, dichroic
stock #17.AL-489
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
2.9 x 1.7 x 1.3 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $950
pre Tucson 2015 update

A classic habit Jeffrey Mine Vesuvianite single crystal showing the very desirable bi-color zoning with deep purple and green. The crystal is translucent to transparent, with bright glassy luster. The purple core shows a strong dichroism with a remarkable color shift when rotated. Held in front of a light source (like a computer screen) the transparent areas change from purple to green. Now considered to be the world's best Vesuvianites, these are fast becoming impossible to find in this quality and very expensive.
Vesuvianite with Diopside
stock #17.AL-492
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
4 x 3.1 x 1.4 CM (miniature)
price: $2800
pre Tucson 2015 update

A killer miniature with top color, great esthetics, sharp gemmy crystals and in perfect condition. This is almost all Vesuvianite with a scattering of gemmy Diopside crystals that add a nice contrast. The deep green Vesuvianites are all with the pointed terminations and have gem clarity. This quality was rare and special when the mine was working but is now almost never available. Far better in person this piece really glows in any display.
Vesuvianite
stock #17.AL-494
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
6 x 4 x 2.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $975
pre Tucson 2015 update

A glassy luster yellow-green cluster of sharp and partly gemmy Vesuvianites. The overall arrangement and esthetics are very attractive, this really displays well. Most of the crystals are sharply terminated and damage free, but a few show re-crystallization on old broken surfaces, this can look like damage on a quick glance but it is not. Were it not for the recrystallized zones this would be a far more expensive specimen. Avery good value for the size, color and esthetics.
Grossular gem grade with included Clinochlore
stock #17.AL-487
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
2 x 1.6 x 1.4 CM (thumbnail)
price: $850
pre Tucson 2015 update

A pretty and fine specimen that is a rather hard to describe and to photograph. A cluster of transparent garnets with a tiny bit of matrix. It is easy to see the matrix through the clear Grossular, and with magnification individual crystals of Clinochlore and what looks like Diopside can be seen inside the crystals. Undamaged, clear and with very, very glassy luster, this has outstanding deep color and is far better in person.
Diopside (gem clear) with green Vesuvianite
stock #17.AL-490
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
5.3 x 3.9 x 4.1 (cabinet)
price: $1950
pre Tucson 2015 update

A killer quality gem clear Diopside cluster with a light sherry color is perched on a contrasting matrix of white Diopside and bright green Vesuvianite. In outstanding condition this has fine eye-catching esthetics, showing the tabular crystals in a perfect stack. Good Diopside from this locale is sought after, these are very uncommon in such quality and condition as they are fragile. An excellent addition to any suite from Jeffrey Mine and a a fine Diopside from any place
Vesuvianite
stock #17.AL-493
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
2.9 x 2.2 x 2.4 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $650
pre Tucson 2015 update

A really attractive piece with an unusual composition. A small "mountain" of tiny Vesuvianite crystals (mixed green, purple and pink) are the base for a single gem clear crystal jutting out of the summit. A bright, high luster piece that is unlike any other we have seen. In very good condition, a few crystals show some breaks that recrystallized. Micro level chips exist that are not seen without magnification. The summit crystal is especially clear and perfect. This is the kind of specimen that helped make this closed mine a world classic.
