Serandite w. Aegerine etc
stock #19.1-293
Mont Saint-Hilaire, Monteregie
Quebec, Canada
3.6 x 1 x .8 CM (miniature)
price: $330
Spring 2019

A fine single prism of orange- pink Serandite crystal that presents an elongated blocky prismatic form. In exceptional undamaged condition this was collected more than 35 years ago. Recently it has been determined that some of the Serandites from St Hillaire are in fact Schizolite a misidentification that applies to many recent pieces. This piece is not one of those but is a real Serandite.
Vesuvianite
stock #18.AX-32-089
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
2.3 x 1.2 x .8 CM (thumbnail)
price: $250
Spring 2019

A sharply terminated bi-color crystal of glassy Vesuvianite from the great Jeffrey Mine. Gemmy in some areas this grades from a light pink-violet hue to a green top. No damage and a good, affordable Vesuvianite with classic form.
Carletonite
stock #18-AX-16-010
Mont Saint-Hilaire, Monteregie
Quebec, Canada
.9 x .8 x .8 CM (thumbnail)
price: $900
Spring 2019

A super sharp, perfect gemmy zoned Carletonite crystal from the only locality where these were ever found, Mont St Hillaire. Glassy luster and some complex growth structures on a few faces add interest. A rare yet sometimes beautiful mineral, Carletonite has not been found for many years, it seems the one small zone that produced these was unique and there will likely never be more. Very few Carletonites were this clear, sharp and undamaged, most of the larger crystals were far more crude or had considerable damage. This small crystal is 1.2 CM diagonal, looks great on all sides and is a killer for the speci
Diopside- Chromian green with Grossular
stock #18.1-741
Orford Nickel Mine, Brompton Lake, Sherbrooke
Quebec, Canada
5.9 x 4.4 x 4.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $375
Spring 2019

The so called Chromian Diopsides from the famed Orford Nickel mine are quite prized. We are told that the color may be due to Nickel and not Chrome but either way these are very attractive and uncommon. This one has unusually fine apple green hue. The largest crystal is 1.7 CM and all are gemmy with very glassy luster. Normally the larger crystals are opaque, and a yellowish to grey color. Such bright green clear crystals are usually only microscopic. Tiny deep green Grossular are also present as are Calcite crystals. The tiny crystals add a lot of sparkle in person.
Analcime on Serandite/ Schiziolte
stock #18.1-744
Mont Saint-Hilaire, Monteregie
Quebec, Canada
2.7 x 1.7 x 1.1 (thumbnail)
price: $65
Dec 2018

Classic Mt. St. Hillaire specimen of a cream Analcime crystal nicely perched on a salmon color Serandite and or Schiziolite cluster. The Serandite is broken at one end but terminated (crudely) on the other. It has been recently determined that some but not all of this habit Serandite is in fact Schiziolite and requires testing. It seems that some crystals are also zoned and have both species present. This one has not be analyzed. As is typical on specimens from this locale, there are other species present as micro crystals too, a Polylithonite rosette and a small cluster of Rhodochrosite. Nice combo thumbnail.
Rhodochrosite with Polylithonite, Aegerine etc
stock #17.1-660
Poudrette Quarry, Mont Saint-Hilaire
Quebec, Canada
2.7 x 2.6 x 1.2 CM (thumbnail)
price: $475
Dec 2018

A neat variation of classic form from Mt St Hillaire, the flattened triangular Rhodochrosite Rhomb with some extra faces. This specimen here also has several tiny "normal" Rhodo rhombs. Lots of micro crystals on some faces and edges, including Polylithonite. In perfect condition by naked eye, only at 30X magnification are some rough spots found as is a secondary coating in a few spots. Displays well from most any angle, this is good looking on either side. An attractive large thumbnail.
Barite (Barytes) large transparent crystal
stock #18-AX-16-553
Marcil Quarry, Sainte-Lotilde-de-Chateauguay, Monteregie
Quebec, Canada
5 x 2.6 x 1.4 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $250
Dec 2018

A large glass clear Barite crystal that is complete and perfectly transparent. In very good condition and complete except on the bottom, this has a faden-like line seen in the center of the prism. Sharp and lustrous, a choice example from this less well known mine.
Grossular and Diopside
stock #18.AX-24-481
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
3.4 x 2.3 x 2.8 CM (miniature)
price: $360
Dec 2018

An attractive, complex specimen of lustrous cinnamon colored Grossular on prismatic Diopside crystals. A classic combination from the famed Jeffrey Mine. The Garnets are well formed and damage free, the Diopsides are well terminated with flat tops and also undamaged but are contacted on the outer edges. A choice miniature that has a fine color contrast. Better in person.
