Torbernite - Exeptional modern classic
stock #18.1-530
Margabal Mine, Entraygues-sur-Truyere, Averyron
Occitanie, France
6.1 x 4.7 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $3200
Dec 2018

Outstanding cabinet sized Torbernite with rich green color and incredible crystal form. From the last great finds at Margabal, this is a superb piece in impeccable condition. There are two habits of Torbernite showing two generations on this piece, the largest being the fans of splayed plates. This size and quality is top percentile and the deep forrest green is impressive, but far better in person.
Calcite balls with Quartz and Actinolite
stock #16.1-177
Huanggang Mine, Chifeng Prefecture, Hexigten Banner, Ulanhead League
Inner Mongolia Region, China
7.2 x 5.5 x 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $190
Dec 2018

A remarkable and strange Calcite formed of spherical clusters of flat crystals. The balls are connected in a chain and these are covered with bright sparkling Quartz in tiny doubly terminated clear crystals much like Herkimer Diamonds. A scattering of Hairlike Actinolite crystals are seen with magnification impaling both the Quartz and Calcite. Choice and in excellent condition, the esthetics are impressive. Another of the mineral wonders from the incredible deposits at Huangang.
Cerussite on Azurite
stock #18-AX-27-086
Poteryaevskoe Mine, Rubtsovskoe Cu-Zn-Pb deposit, Rudnyl Altai
Altaiskii Krai, Russia
5.2 x 3.3 x 2.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $725
Dec 2018

The fantastic finds of Cuprites at Rubtsovskoe was huge news a few years ago, and made the region famous. Recently some very attractive Azurites have turned up but only a few associated with Cerussite. This example has a reticulated cluster well placed on contrasting crystallized Azurite. Excellent color and form, a fine addition to any copper suite and will fit well with the Cuprites and coppers that are so well known from here.
Cobaltoan Calcite and Malachite
stock #18-AX-12-019
Mashamba West Mine, Kolwezi, Katanga Copper Crescent
Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire)
6 x 4.4 x 4.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $640
Dec 2018

The Cobaltoan Calcites of Mashamba have been gone for more than a decade now, but they are still considered to be some of the best and most intensely colored ever found. This specimen has the most desirable contrast with a small matrix of green Malachite and has several generations of pink to clear Calcite displayed. Sadly there are some edge cleaves or contacts but the overall specimen condition is very good and still displays well. The best Scalenohedral crystals are remarkably clean and free of chipping. There are several possible display angles. Now very hard to get in the mineral market these are unique and quite sought after.
Axinite with Quartz and Calcite
stock #9AE-1077
Nandan, Hechi Prefecture
Guangxi Autonomous Region, China
6.5 x 4.3 x 2.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $260
Dec 2018

Well defined, sharp Axinite crystals from a find over 10 years ago in the little known mines of Nandan. At the time these were the first Axinites found in China and as far as I know are still the only good quality specimens found so far. No damage but a few contacts are noted, the crystals are free standing and reach over 1.5 CM.
SOLD Cuprite on Dickite
stock #SOLD 16.1-639
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
7.1 x 2.9 x 2.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $0
Dec 2018

A shard of breccia bedrock is thickly covered with white Dickite that holds clusters of sharp bright red Cuprite crystals. The Milpillas mine is world famed for its great Azurites but several other Copper species are also first rate at this mine. The Cuprite on this piece is epitaxially oriented and has clean dark red color with bright luster. The individual crystals are sharp and damage free, all are transparent and could be faceted. Well above average quality for the find, the crystals are3 complete, well formed sharp and have classic form, unlike the flattened and distorted Cuprites that are more typical from here. Not just a locality piece, this is a choice displayable specimen that is impressive in person.
SOLD Sphalerite -
stock #SOLD 16.1-175
Dalnegorsk, Kavalerovo Mining District
Primorsky Kray, Far Eastern Region, Russia
5.7 x 1.5 x 1.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $0
Dec 2018

A super exotic, rare habit for Sphalerite to be in a column. Often called Stalactitic (not technically correct as there is no sign of a hollow central canal) these are very rare and the crystals are aligned in a remarkable way. In fine undamaged condition and with mirror bright luster, in person a slight twist can be seen as well. Choice and a modern classic from the great Dalnegorsk.
Agate (Laguna) polished nodule
stock #18.1-596
Ojo Laguna, Estacion Ojo Laguna, Municipio de Ahumada
Chihuahua, Mexico
4.2 x 4 x 1.2 CM (miniature)
price: $280
Dec 2018

Laguna Agates are unique in their colors and distinctive patterns. These are highly prized and usually very expensive in larger sizes. This smaller sized specimen is from an older find several decades ago, and has vivid intense color contrast. Such perfect form and color pallet in a larger cabinet size would be a solid 4 figure specimen. A great value for a reasonably priced but perfectly beautiful nodule.
