Prehnite crystals covered by Grossular
stock #18-AX-10-842
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
4 x 3.2 x 2.1 CM (miniature)
price: $320
Late Summer 2018

A cluster of Prehnite crystals are almost completely covered with tiny colorless and white Grossular crystals. There are a few small areas of uncovered Prehnite where it can be seen that these are glassy and transparent. Colorless or white Garnet is very rare and the tiny Grossular here are nearly all transparent, mostly colorless with a few white translucent crystals. It is impossible to find this combination available unless from an oldcollections being dispursed.
Anatase - blue crystals on Quartz
stock #18.1-405
Hardanngervidda
Hordaland, Norway
1.9 x 1.4 x .8 CM (thumbnail)
price: $160
Late Summer 2018

A fine thumbnail of blue anatase from the classic locality of Hardangervidda. In excellent condition this has excellent luster and the Anatase are well exposed from the Quartz. Looks nice from several angles, a small but attractive Anatase with a good deep blue hue.
Rhodochrosite -rhombic and eched forms
stock #18-AX-22-103
Wudong Mine, Wuzhou Prefecture
Guizhou, China
3 x 2.3 x 2.3 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $420
Late Summer 2018

Deep red color, translucent to transparent and with fine form, a choice toenail sized Rhodo. From the Wuton (Wudong) mine that is no longer producing, but at one time this discovery made nice Rhodos much more affordable for many collectors. This piece has a pair of modified rhombs joined in a V shape. One is sharp and glassy with some stepped etching, the other is more heavily modified, etched and recrystallized. This is the style that was often compared to Rhodos from Sweet Home. There is a lot of similarity but the price is very much lower from this locale!
Grossular green-core "frog egg"
stock #18 -AX-392
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
1.7 x 1.6 x 1.4 CM (thumbnail)
price: $290

A small thumbnail showing intense green core clear Grossular crystals. This habit was often called "frog egg" and was only found at the Jeffrey Mine, and only rarely. Ex Larry White collection, he obtained this in 1975, at that time it was labeled as a Uvarovite, a common error when these were first found. This specimen has super sharp, gemmy crystals with a small bit of matrix. The luster is bright glassy, transparent and is over all in fine condition. Looks especially great under magnification where small details can pop out. These have become very hard to get and it seems there will never be more. Small but very eye catching.
Prehnite -elongated crystals
stock #18.1-393
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
3.9 x 3 x 1.8 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $130
Late Summer 2018

The amazing Prehnite crystals from Jeffrey mine took many forms and habits, unlike anything ever seen elsewhere. Although Prehnite is not really a scarce mineral, sizable prismatic Prehnite crystals are incredibly rare. This prismatic Prehnite cluster is a good example, sharp, with some complete doubly terminated crystals to 3.8 CM long. The luster is pearly and the crystal tips are transparent, the body is more milky translucent. There is chipping only on the outer edges, the center area is pristine and undamaged. A good small miniature showing an elongated habit, wide center sections and with square cross section terminations.
Vesuvianite
stock #18-AX-23-143
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
8.8 x 7.2 x 6.1 (cabinet)
price: $720
Late Summer 2018

Large block of nearly pure Vesuvianite with every side showing bright crystals to 1.6 CM though most are much smaller. Some contacts and very small chipping can be found so the pricing reflects this, yet the overall display impact is strong. An excellent value for a showy Jeffrey Vesuvianite. A few additional vugs hold the rare Emerald green (so called Chromian) Vesuvianite and a few bits of purple color pop out too. Overall this is the classic mint green color, sparkling with glassy luster on crystals that are transparent to translucent.
Variscite- pure gem nodule
stock #18-AX-9-074
Utahlite Hill, Lucin, Lucin Sistrict, Pilot Range, Box Elder County
Utah, United States
11.4 x 8.5 x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $440

A big polished half nodule of very choice gem grade Variscite with top grade color. Some patterns showing faintly but overall a strong and even color. 328 grams nearly all gem grade with just a thin skin on the exterior, super rich. This is an old piece from the less well known Utahlite Hill that had a more pure Variscite than the better known Clay Canyon locale.
Hemimorphite
stock #18-AX-19-217
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
10.1 x 7.7 x 6.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $390
Late Summer 2018

Two generations of well-formed Hemimophite crystals on a gossan matrix. The smaller crystals are colorless, glass clear and very lustrous. The larger are a milky white with a hint of reddish included Hematite. Free standing, these larger crystals reach 2.5 CM. A very three-dimensional matrix and with several excellent angles for display, this is an older Mina Ojuela specimen that is not like material from later finds. The early finds are highly respected as perhaps the best prismatic crystals of the specie ever found. A modern Mexican classic that is still affordable.
