Barite on Stibnite
stock #6.2-345
Dahegou Mine, Lushi County, Sanmenxia Prefecture
Henan, China
10.9 x 1.4 x 1.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $330
Spring update

Unusual and neat association. A Stibnite crystal with some bends and a hackly termination has two white transparent Barite crystals on the middle section. The Barites have some milky faces and others that are very clear so the underlying Stibnite can be seen through the crystals. From finds in 2005 we have not seen more of this type since that era.
Veszelyite on Hemimorphite
stock #18-AX-15-226
Gejiu Ore Field, Gejiou ounty, Honghe Prefecture
Yunnan, China
10.2 x 7 x 5.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $720
Spring update

A large blue Hemimorphite in botryoidal form hosts dozens of brilliant blue Veszelyite crystals. Ex Shileds Flynn collection, a very esthetic presentation for this rare mineral. This comes from an important find in Yunnan province that made big news in 2006. The specimen has been sawn on the back/ underside but the display faces are natural in form. The Hemimorphite has a very three dimensional form, and this also has a range of blue hues that add to the relief.
Copper with Quartz
stock #18-AX 19-163
Onganja Mine, Windhoek District
Khomas Region, Namibia
5.1 x 2.8 x 1.7 CM (miniature)
price: $350
Spring update

A crystallized sculpture of Copper from the famed Onganja mine that has several crystallized Quartz clusters perched. In fine condition, the Quartz seems to have formed on a Calcite core. A rare association, the tiny Quartz crystals are very clear, adding a sparkling accent. The Copper is in branching crystals with some showing crude spinel twinning and flattened, stretched octahedrons. Quartz is not a common association in these coppers.
Barite with Calcite
stock #18.1-187
Meikle Mine, Bootstrap district, Carlin Trend, Elko County
Nevada, United States
4.7 x 4.4 x 2.3 CM (miniature)
price: $290
Spring update

A large, clear golden Barite crystal sits on a few smaller Barites and minor Calcite. The main crystal is well presented, doubly terminated, tabular habit, lustrous and pristine. There are crystal contacts in a few areas but no damage. A modern American classic locale, the Meikle mine has produced many great Barites at one time. This specimen was collected well over a decade ago in the hight of production. better in person too.
Plumbogummite - dark blue replacing Pyromorphite
stock #18.1-174
Daoping Lead-Zinc Mine, Yangshao
Guangxi Autonomous Region, China
5 x 4.5 x 3.3 CM (miniature)
price: $150
Spring update

The rare deep indigo blue Plumbogummite from the earliest finds at Daoping that is very different from the later powder-blue replacement crystals. This botryoidal mass covers a bright yellow to greenish zone of unaltered Pyromorphite. Sawn on the base and with some bruises mostly at the outer edges, so this is not for a perfectionist but is still choice and very attractive for one of these. For centuries the worlds best Plumbogummites were the British specimens that were priceless treasures in top collections. This Chinese specimen even though modest is richer and esthetically superior to most of those. Collected before 2004 from a zone that was mined away soon after.
Fluorite on Muscovite and Quartz
stock #4.2-220
Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang County
Hunan Province, China
4.2 x 4.1 x 3.2 CM (miniature)
price: $190
Spring update

Glassy transparent and sharp cubes with areas of deep purple color zoning. The matrix is visible through the Fluorites. No damage. This sort of Fluorite once came out in large amounts from Yaoganxian, though undamaged pieces were much less common. A modern classic location, the supply of nice pieces is drying up but some are still relatively affordable.
Elbaite- Three color Tourmaline on Clevelandite
stock #18.1-163
Stak Nala, Haramoush Mountains
Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan
4.1 x 4 x 3.3 CM (miniature)
price: $290
Spring update

A single terminated Elbaite crystal 3.1 CM long is nicely set on Clevelandite blades from the famed Stak Nala pegmatites. A few crystals of the Clevelandite have grown into the Tourmaline but most of it is well exposed and fully visible. In good condition, the three color Elbaites are much less common at Stak Nala. A cute miniature that is quite affordable for one of these.
Fluorite-
stock #17.1-818
Hohenstein Massif, Omaruru District
Erongo Region, Namibia
2.9 x 1.7 x 1.1 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $450
Spring update

For those who enjoy weird, rare forms. Bright green transparent Fluorites with an exotic structure. These have been called "rhombohedral" Fluorites and they do have that exact shape, even though a cubic crystal should not form like this. These are in fact spinel twinned Fluorites with elongation of the C axis, a distortion that makes this habit. This piece is a cluster of 3 small crystals and one larger all with the habit but the largest one is the center and shows the habit the best. A rare find in one pocket on Hohenstien we are told, that had just a few examples of this form. The color is a rich apple green and the condition is perfect too. Strong display for a small piece.
