HOLD Leucite- large floater crystal cluster
Monte Somma, Somma-Vesuvius complex, Naples
3.7 x 3.4 x 3.3 CM (miniature)
Textbook sharp crystals in a cluster from the classic Italian locality of Mt Somma. From several angles this looks like a single crystal with Dodecahedral form but when rotated it is clear that this is a cluster of three intergrown crystals that are perfect and complete. Leucite is not a very rare mineral but sizable, perfect crystals like this are rather uncommon. This is a fine example, much better than usual.
