Pyrrhotite - partly altered crystals
stock #13.1-086
Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua, Mexico
5.4 x 2.9 x 2.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $125
Pre Holiday 2017

A well-formed cluster of Pyrrhotite crystals showing the in process alteration on several faces. The terminations are unaltered and have the typical brassy color. This is a 1960 vintage specimen from Santa Eulalia which at that time produced many Pyrrhotites. These are now rare on the market. In good complete condition although the main crystal shows separations from altering, and would have eventually split apart, so this shows well a mid-stage transition.

Cuprite- gemmy red crystals
stock #16.1-640
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
6 x 4.4 x 1.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $520
Pre Holiday 2017

A well formed, bright stack of Cuprite crystals from the great Milpillas mine, better known for world class Azurites. This find of Cuprites created a big stir 2 years ago, but few were undamaged or had crystals much over a few millimeters. This piece is far better than average, in excellent condition damage wise and the crystals are stacked in an esthetic epitaxial arrangement. These octahedrons all will glow bright red with focused light passing through them, the photos here are only made with typical display lighting, so as not to be misleading. When these were first found the prices being charged were incredibly high, this is a lot more reasonable, yet a fine quality piece, by comparison a really good value.

Apatite -CaF (Fluorapatite)
stock #8.1-458A
Cerro de Mercado, Victoria de Durango
Durango, Mexico
4.9 x 3.5 x 3.2 CM (miniature)
price: $150
Pre Holiday 2017

An older Apatite from Cerro de Mercado that presents a fine 3.5 CM gemmy crystal well exposed on matrix. This locale was a prolific source of these Apatites although most were much less clear than this and few on matrix. Rich yellow-green (asparagus) color. A choice piece in good condition that looks better in person. One old rehealed break is seen in the main crystal. A nice example.

Legrandite w. Smithsonite etc.
stock #A-10-656
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
6.2 x 3.8 x 2.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $360
Pre Holiday 2017

Gem clear bright yellow crystals of the Legrandite in several vugs on a Gossan matrix. A sprinkling of slender white Smithsonite crystals are also in some of the vugs as well, along with micro crystals that I can not identify. Many Legrandite crystals are perfect, undamaged and highly lustrous, but this is not a specimen for perfectionists since there are also some broken crystals in a few areas. For such a delicate mineral the condition overall is incredible, especially since some crystals protrude outside the protective vugs. Displays nicely but could be trimmed to make top notch thumbnail(s) if desired. As a rule these older Legrandites are very expensive even with some damage, this one is quite reasonable.

Rhodochrosite with Calcite
stock #A-10-845
Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua, Mexico
5.7 x 4.5 x 4 CM (cabinet)
price: $145
Pre Holiday 2017

An old (1960s vintage) and unusual Rhodochrosite from Santa Eulalia. The Rhodos are bright pink and very gemmy rhombs in small clusters and rosettes. A few white Calcites in rice grain form are sprinkled in and the whole rests on a contrasting greenish matrix that is a cast after what probably were earlier Calcite crystals. In fine condition.

Azurite -textbook form crystals
stock #AX-24-299
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
3.9 x 2.1 x 1.4 CM (miniature)
price: $1050
new june 17

A top esthetic Milpillas Azurite presenting an elegant cluster of perfect, sharp, crystals on contrasting matrix. Not a typical specimen, this form and habit are quite rare from Mexico. Textbook prismatic crystals reach 2 CM in size and are undamaged. Milpillas produced many great specimens while it was producing but specimens like this were never common. Choice.

Rosasite
stock #AX-4-249
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
4 x 4.1 x 2.9 CM (cabinet)
price: $390
new june 17

A free-form sculpture of velvety Rosasite from Ojuela. This seems to have formed over a gossan matrix most of which has been etched away leaving this botryoidal mass of Rosasite. Fine color, this is nearly all Rosasite not just a thin coating. From a find in 2012 that was one of the best pockets of Rosasite seen in decades, this is a very attractive piece in great condition.

Amethyst
stock #17.1-102
Piedra Parada, Las Vigas
Veracruz, Mexico
6.7 x 3.9 x 4.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $460
Spring 2017

From the new (late 2016 early 2017) finds at Las Vigas, a gem clear, incredibly perfect and sharp cluster of Amethyst. Competition grade, the individual crystals reach 4.8 CM and are perfectly transparent, a few internal bubbles are also seen. This classic area has recently produced some superb specimens. This is that rare specimen perfect, undamaged and complete- no issues at all. Far better in person.
