Pentahydroborite with Wurtzite
Shijiangshan Mine, Linxi, Ulanhad League
Inner Mongolia Region,
3.8 x 2.6 x 1.7 CM (small miniature)
Pentahydroborite is a rare Hydrous Calcium Borate, that has only been found a few times in very few widely scattered small deposits. The most recent finds were in the 1990s in Japan and in a single pocket in 2014 in Inner Mongolia. There have been no more since. This piece is well crystallized and is in excellent undamaged condition from Inner Mongolia. There is a little Wurtzite that adds some contrast as well. The crystals are in two different habits and some are in leafy groupings.
