SOLD Topaz -rare purple
stock #SOLD 19.1-806
Ouro Preto
Minas Gerais, Brazil
2 x .9 x .7 CM (thumbnail)
price: $0
Spring 2020

Gemmy thumbnail crystal of imperial Topaz with the very rare pink-purple color. From the classic locality of Ouro Preto which has produced vast amounts of yellow and light orange Topaz over many decades. The purple and pink-purple colors are unique in the world. At Ouro Preto these are very rare and highly sought after, there has not been any new finds of purples in many years. Some similarity is seen with pink Topaz from Katlang, the only other source that ever came close, but the purple color from Ouro Preto is quite different, and treasured as gem rough and especially as specimens. This crystal is fully transparent, complete and lustrous.
SOLD Topaz- Imperial gem
stock #SOLD 16.1-162
Ouro Preto
Minas Gerais, Brazil
7.3 x 1.9 x 1.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $0
Spring 2019

A sizable and fine elongated imperial Topaz from Ouro Preto with classic bright orange color. In person this is fully transparent and has glassy luster, a perfect pyramidal top termination and a more crude lower termination (doubly terminated) a chip is on the lower corner where this was removed it is not seen on most logical display angles, A contact along one edge is completely healed and recrystallized, overall this is in remarkably fine condition for such a large crystal. Wispy dark inclusions are noted and in the center of the crystal is the nice rose color that is especially desirable. Choice and better in person too.
Hematite (large twinned crystals)
stock #10.1-307
Ouro Preto
Minas Gerais, Brazil
5.3 x 4.8 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $200

A big, bright metallic black complex twin of crystallized Hematite. Displays well from several angles, there is some inevitable chipping and contacts, but these are not distracting. The specimen is very complex and presents many forms with some mirror bright faces and others with very fine striations. These Brazilian Hematites rank well alongside the world's best and are relatively very affordable.
