Lazurite -well formed crystal on Marble
stock #19.1-080
Laduar Medam, Sar-e-Sang District, Koksha Valley, Khash and Kuran Wa Mun
Badakshan, Afghanistan
5.5 x 5.3 x 3.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $560

Bright blue and very well exposed on contrasting matrix, this is a striking specimen. In fine condition the form is complete with edge modification clearly visible, and just under 3 CM across. Typically the faces of these crystals are never very lustrous and can be fairly rough or crude. This specimen is about as lustrous as these get, the crystal faces show some course texture but are way more smooth than is normal. From finds a few years ago, a very attractive and clean piece.
Scapolite (purple gem crystal)
stock #16.1-525
Laduar Medam, Sar-e-Sang District, Koksha Valley, Khash and Kuran Wa Mun
Badakshan, Afghanistan
2.6 x 2.4 x 2 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $600
Winter 2016-17

A deep, intense purple, very lustrous Scapolite crystal from Badakhshan Afghanistan. Tranparent to translucent and in very good condition this is a particularly choice small gem crystal. Classic habit for these rare crystals from Badakhshan, which are world class for the specie.
Afghanite
stock #8 AFG- 742
Laduar Medam, Sar-e-Sang District, Koksha Valley, Khash and Kuran Wa Mun
Nuristan, Afghanistan
5 x 4 CM (miniature)
price: $165

A sharp, deep blue terminated Afghanite sits on the top of a calcite matrix (FL). The Afghanite crystal is 2 CM long and 1.6 CM wide, it is broken in the back but the presenting side is undamaged. There are two other broken crystal frangments in the matrix. A nice example and a well presented termination of this once uncommon mineral.
