Poudrette Quarry, Mont Saint-Hilaire
3.1 x 1.6 x .8 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
A clean, damage free crystal aggregate that is doubly terminated and displays a slight rotation or twist. Tiny Analcime and Natrolites are attached but this is overall just Serandite. Good Salmon pink colored and well developed flat terminations on top of these crystals makes a very choice thumbnail. A very good St. Hillaire specimen, a good value.
A neat variation of classic form from Mt St Hillaire, the flattened triangular Rhodochrosite Rhomb with some extra faces. This specimen here also has several tiny "normal" Rhodo rhombs. Lots of micro crystals on some faces and edges, including Polylithonite. In perfect condition by naked eye, only at 30X magnification are some rough spots found as is a secondary coating in a few spots. Displays well from most any angle, this is good looking on either side. An attractive large thumbnail.
An esthetic cluster of well formed leaf-like pink Serandite with contrasting white Analcime crystals. A classic association from Mt St Hillaire, the only locale where sizable, fine crystals were found. Minor black Aegirine is also noted. A lot of visual impact for a small specimen. In excellent condition.
A classic that is distinctive to Mont St Hillaire, this is a deep red Rhodo with the presenting triangular face lightly dusted with accessory minerals. The back and some sides have Aegirine prisms as well. Very sharp and damage free on the front viewing side. There are some contacts and one tiny chip on the back. Quite clean and sizable for one of these, this would be important for a suite of Mont St Hillaire or any comprehensive Rhodo collection.
