Mimetite with Calcite- older specimen
stock #18-AX-10-590
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
5.8 x 4.5 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $190

A Mimetite from older (1962-64) finds at Mina Ojuela that looks very different from most later materials. The Mimetites are unusually sharp and lustrous, many prisms with hoppered terminations. The crystals are brilliant yellow on one side of the specimen and a dull brown on the other side. Mixed in are several small Calcite rhombs which are transparent too. Most of the crystals are perfect and undamaged but there also spots with damage that keeps this far less pricey. Although not very easily seen without magnification they are there. These older Mexican Mimetites are unlike the later and larger finds that are very well known (San Pedro Coralitos etc), these are not the usual rounded form but are more glassy and quite prismatic.
Adamite
stock #6.2-1052
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
5 x 4.1 x 1.1 CM (miniature)
price: $380

Inter-connected half-balls of bright green Adamite forming a plate with minimal matrix. The balls have bright luster and are composed of distinct small curved crystals. Early 1960 vintage specimen from Mina Ojuela, the backside of this is flattened being contacted with a minor amount of adhering matrix. The front is in fine, undamaged condition. Distinctly different from more recent finds and brightly fluorescent.
Cerussite - blue-green inclusions
stock #18AX-29-114
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
6.8 x 4.4 x 4.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $490
Spring 2019

An incredible Ojuela Cerussite that is a mix of colorless, green and nearly black Cerussite crystals with minimal matrix of Sulfides, mostly Pyrite. From a find about 5 years ago there were not many as fine as this. Slender, flattened and blocky prismatic habits with and without twinning in exceptional condition. The quality is amazing for this delicate mineral. The darkest Cerussites are included by a dark Sulfide, probably Galena. The green-blue color is an especially nice touch when seen on the clearest crystals. This could be trimmed to a killer miniature but the overall specimen seems to have greater mineralogical interest if kept intact.
Paradamite with Smithsonite
stock #18.1-570
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
3.4 x 1.7 x 2 CM (miniature)
price: $750
Dec 2018

A killer Paradamite with outstanding color, form and with contrasting Smithsonite. Paradamite is a very rare mineral and choice pieces are not often available for less than a small fortune (sometimes even a large one) From the recent find, this has the best glassy luster, several crystal habits showing and the quality is top. The last good find of Paradamite was almost 20 years ago, and disappeared right away.
Kobyashevite with Selenite on Calcite
stock #18.1-535
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
6.5 x 5.1 x 3.9 CM (cabinet)
price: $1400
Dec 2018

The rare coper mineral Kobyashevite was discovered and described in 2011. A close relative of Devilline this Copper Sulfate specie was an exciting find at Mina Ojuela this year, and in this deposit the specimens are impressively large and attractive, certainly the worlds best. It seems that these specimens are postmining redepositions and are always partly overgrown with small needles of clear Selenite. The best examples have a rich blue-green or Turquoise color and when this is deposited on calcite crystals these have a very esthetic presentation. This specimen is in excellent condition and is the most attractive I have seen from the find. A choice and colorful rarity.
Adamite -Manganoan
stock #18-AX-11-043
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
2.7 x 2 x 19 CM (thumbnail)
price: $475
Late Summer 2018

An especially esthetic, sharp flowerlike burst of Manganoan (purple-magenta tipped) Adamite. This cluster rests on a solid gossan matrix like an icecream cone, and has excellent proportions. Fine luster and condition, in person a little more purple color is noted. Ojuela produced only a few of these that looked this good, a quality, competitive thumbnail. Collected pre 2000, perhaps much older.
Hemimorphite
stock #18-AX-19-217
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
10.1 x 7.7 x 6.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $390
Late Summer 2018

Two generations of well-formed Hemimophite crystals on a gossan matrix. The smaller crystals are colorless, glass clear and very lustrous. The larger are a milky white with a hint of reddish included Hematite. Free standing, these larger crystals reach 2.5 CM. A very three-dimensional matrix and with several excellent angles for display, this is an older Mina Ojuela specimen that is not like material from later finds. The early finds are highly respected as perhaps the best prismatic crystals of the specie ever found. A modern Mexican classic that is still affordable.
Mimetite with Wulfenite
stock #13.1-139
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
5.7 x 3.6 x 2.8 CM (miniature)
price: $440
Worldwide mix summer

A choice "wet-look" Mimetite with bright yellow-orange color. In fine condition as seen, from the 2012 pocket at Mina Ojuela, one of the best discoveries there in many years. The form is noticably different from the old San Pedro de Coralitos locality that is now very uncommon and expensive. On this piece the luster and color is noticably brighter, while the Mimetites are more tall and slender. Bright and attractive piece with some tiny Wulfenites scattered about that are best seen with magnification. Excellent value.
