Azurite with Malachite -Electric Blue
stock #16.1-646
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
5.2 x 4.3 x 3.3 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $650
Spring 2017

The type of bright electric blue Azurite that was major news in the mineral world. The association of crystallized Malachite adds an strong contrast to the lustrous Azurite crystals. I good condition there is chippining at outer sides but the center is clean and undamaged. Better in person, when these were first found a specimen of this quality would be priced in the thousands. This was a huge find and so the prices have become much more affordable for a choice Azurite. As of 2014 the Azurite zone is finished and no more is expected.
HOLD Azurite w. Malachite
stock #HOLD 17.1-AX-3-052
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
4 x 2.9 x 2.6 CM (miniature)
price: $1450
Fall 2015

Esthetic Milpillas Azurite with a fine sharp, lustrous large main crystal nicely perched atop. From early finds vintage 2007, this displays great and the architecture is especially attractive. Milpillas is now famed as perhaps the greatest source of Azurites in history, which is saying a lot. There are many good pieces on the market and the prices vary from incredibly cheap to seven figures. Finding a fine yet affordable specimen that will stand out from the crowd is not easy. This is that sort of piece.
Brochantite- (rare stout crystals)
stock #Alec-3-481
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
4.9 x 3.7 x 3.9 CM (miniature)
price: $775

A well formed and undamaged specimen of the "stout" crystal habit found about 4 years ago at Milpillas. This locale is now world famous for some of the best Azurites, and the very best Brochantites ever seen. The Brochantites were mostly of the delicate "hairy" or fuzzy type, which were beautiful but incredibaly fragile. Only a few of the thicker crystals on matrix came out. The very best pieces sold quickly in the 5 and 6 figure range, few were available for collectors of "normal" means. This is one such- an excellent miniature example that is both esthetic and affordable. The largest crystal is 2.5 CM long and all have excellent luster.
Malachite psudo after Azurite (huge crystal)
stock #Alec3-408
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
8.5 x 5.7 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $1180
Spring 2014

An extremely large (over 3-1/2 inches) single compound crystal of Azurite is partly altered to a silky green Malachite, yet still has large areas of deep blue. Somewhat blocky and crude but with strong and clear form this is an impressive piece and one of the largest single crystal psudos that have come from this prolific location. Esthetic and with strong display presence, this was mined in 2011. A very good value.
SOLD Malachite Psudo after Azurite
stock #SOLD Alec 3-375
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
12.4 x 7.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $0
Spring 2013

An impressive larger piece with great form and silky luster. Individual crystals to 4 CM long show the shape of the original Azurites fully replaced by rich green Malachite. From the now finished finds at Milpillas, this is already a classic, yet still affordable. Good Malachite psuedos were never common here, but the good ones were some of the best ever found anyplace. This is a really fine example.
Azurite
stock #Alec-3-165
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
4.4 x 4.3 CM (miniature)
price: $375

A big, bright Azurite single crystal with the "Milpillas" habit that shows excellent color. There is chipping on some edges, which keeps this priced very low for such a large and flashy crystal. Much better in person.
Azurite (Brilliant elecric color and luster)
stock #ALEC- 3-025
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
6x 4 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $2000

It may be difficult to really see this piece in photos, but it is an exceptional, bright top luster Azurite from Milpillas. Very difficult to photograph such bright faces so this is FAR better in person. These Azurites are modern classics and those with the sought after "electric blue" are so intense they are real world class display pieces. Display well from each side, individual crystals reach 3 CM and present complex, sculptural forms. This specimen was obtained as part of a large lot in late 2011. These are from the last mining, they will be regarded as great values in the future!
HOLD Azurite with Malachite
stock #HOLD ALEC-3-124
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
6.6 x 4.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $1450

An excellent electric blue Azurite from the modern classic locale of Milpillas. No damage, great esthetics and contrast with the matrix. Crystals reach 2.6 CM and are well placed. Some zones of the Azurites show alteration to silky Malachite which adds additional color flash. This mine has produced many fine pieces, but as the opertions are now finished with the Azurite bearing zone, these are already appreciating quickly.
