A classic old locality! This is quite a nice and rare combo, from the Lane Quarry in Massachusetts. Cut and rough combo with a fine faceted stone of light yellow color and excellent clarity. Datolite is a rare gemstone and it is difficult to cut as the hardness varies in different orientations, but when done well they are brilliant! Datolites can have a dispersion greater than diamond. The crystal is bright, sharp and un-dinged on the display side, contacted on back and broken on the base, it displays well. Very uncommon to see a Massachusetts Datolite combo like this!
Impressive and a Northeastern US classic! Sharp, clear and bright gemmy Datolites up to 2.4 CM with selective faces colored a nice cognac hue sit on a contrasting green Prehnite. As esthetic as you can find, the main crystals are in perfect condition but non detracting damage is noted on a few smaller crystals and at the edges. Despite this it displays very well and is a striking specimen from this old locale.
THIS IS NOT CHINESE! A very fine old Lane Quarry (Massachusetts) specimen that has great esthetic presence. The Lane Babingtonite were considered to be the best in the world until the newer Chinese finds were made. These have a distinctly different crystal habit that does not occur in China, and are far rarer! The Prehnite ball adds a nice balance and the luster overall is exceptional. Ex Larry White Collection, a very attractive piece!
