Beryl var. Emerald

Late Summer 2018
A single fat gem crystal with excellent color, very sharp edges, lustrous faces and fine display impact. 8.9 Grams a few inclusions but with good transparency, this was mined in 2007. A small area of attached shale on the backside/bottom is the only matrix, this is all Beryl. It has gotten very uncommon to find such good single gem crystals in Colombia. Newer methods of treatment, filling and enhancement means these can be consumed by gem cutters for much more expensive jewelry. In excellent condition and better in person.
Large, sharp, and very translucent, this single crystal of Parisite is exceptional. The bright red brown color and glassy luster make this stand out. Parisites have been found sporadically at the Emerald mines near Muzo, but usually much smaller, damaged or opaque. This is a textbook example of the tapering habit seen at Muzo. Perfectly eye clean for damage but very tiny chip can be found with 20X magnification. In 15 years of travel and worki with Colombian minerals, this is the best single crystal of Parisite we have had.
Single crystal with classic form, good color and clean basal termination. Ex Larry White collection, 6.38 Carats and untreated. This is cutting quality but has survived as a specimen. From the Muzo area (Boyaca, Colombia) it is worth noting that there are no Emerald mines in Muzo itself despite many labels to that effect. The river valley outside the municipality spans several towns and this is the source of this specimen. The Emerald market in the town of Muzo is where most of these are graded and sold. An older piece in good clean, undamaged condition.

An impressive specimen of this rare but usually drab mineral. Super esthetic Parisite crystals in excellent condition are scattered on a druzy matrix. The deep color and waxy luster of these crystals are quite distinctive.Very choice
