A very odd old French Quartz specimen ex Gilles Emringer collection. The light brown Smokey quartz in clear and colorless at the tips and outer edges but the core is composed of thousands of tiny bubbles like a froth that have a golden brown hue. Previous label calls this a Fadden and it has the right habit to be one, but since I can not find the internal string we are calling this Fadden-like as it seems not to be a true fadden. On the backside is a zone of deeply etched tiny crystals that look like either Bertrandite or Phenakite which both occur on the massif. In perfect, undamaged condition and quite a pretty alpine Quartz that is really different.
