Cubanite
stock #13.1-240
Henderson Mine, Chibougamou
Quebec, Canada
3 x 2.3 x 1.8 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $625

An esthetic cluster of shining Cubanite crystals all showing classic twinningset on just a sliver of matrix. The Henderson Mine at Chibougamou has been closed for many years, it was the only source of these fine, sizable Cubanite crystals. The largest crystal in this cluster is is 2 CM across, and sits well on top of the specimen. Close exam shows some minor bruising, contacts and natural cracks, so this is not for perfectionists, but as Cubanite is a very delicate mineral this is in relatively fine condition. and far better than average. Some areas that look like damage in the photos are on inspection fully intact and crystalized with a rough texture. The metallic luster is excellent and has a nice patina. These are a modern classic and somthing of a "holy grail" for most collectors, the starburst twinning habit is especially desirable. An excellent value for the quality.
Cubanite-large twinned crystals
stock #18-AX-24-530
Henderson Mine, Chibougamou
Quebec, Canada
3.4 x 1.7 x 1.4 CM (miniature)
price: $2450

Unusually large, sharp lustrous and very well defined Cubanite. Although Cubanite has been found at several locales in the world, the only source of fine crystals was the Henderson Mine, now long closed. There will never be any more of these which are by far the worlds best Cubanites. This specimen has a super dispaly face with very sharp striations and clear twinning. Some contacting on the back but the front displays very well. Specimens of this quality can only be had from old collections being recycled, and this size is almost never seen.
Gold in Quartz
stock #17.1-717
Henderson Mine, Chibougamou
Quebec, Canada
3.8 x 3.7 x 2 CM (small miniature)
price: $950
Spring update

Gold in crystals, sheets and massive zones densely filling a veined Quartz matrix. From the Henderson mine in Chibougamou, this is an especially rich specimen from the locale that is famed for the worlds best Cubanites. Very few specimens of Gold have been preserved from this locality, Ex Glenn Petrie, and Les Hitchings collections. The Gold is visible on every surface of the matrix, and under magnification the richness and complex delicate structures are very elegant. Total weight of 34 grams I would guess the bulk of that weight is Gold.
