Azurite on Malachite
stock #18.1-406
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
2.4 x 2.1 x 1.7 (thumbnail)
price: $160
Late Summer 2018

Pretty thumbnail of lustrous Azurite on contrasting green Malachite. There were many Milpillas Azurites in the big finds that ended 3 years ago, this resulted in great opportunities for collectors to get very good pieces at abnormally low costs. This is such a piece with the bright color, sharp form and fine contrast. In excellent condition, looks good front and back.

Serandite (on Albite)
stock #AX-27-094
Mont Saint-Hilaire, Monteregie
Quebec, Canada
2.2 x 1.8 x 1.2 CM (thumbnail)
price: $190
Late Summer 2018

A very cute thumbnail of bright, transparent Serandites on contrasting Albite. Serandite is usually opaque or at best milky, translucent on thin edges. These tiny crystals are transparent, colorful and lustrous. As is typical of St Hilaire specimens there are micros of other species as well, most noticeably Polylithonite and Natrolite. Despite the small size the luster and color make this one pop.

Diopside with Grossular
stock #18.1-389
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos (now Val-des-Sources, Estrie,
Quebec, Canada
2.6 x 2.2 x 1.8 CM (thumbnail)
price: $70
Late Summer 2018

Mostly a Diopside thumbnail but with some bright orange Grossular tucked between the crystals. A waxy yellow-green color that is not very common at the Jeffrey mine. The central area of the piece is undamaged and well formed, only the outer edge has some chipping. A very affordable but well crystalized piece.

Pectolite
stock #18.1-390
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos (now Val-des-Sources, Estrie,
Quebec, Canada
2.4 x 1 x .7 CM (thumbnail)
price: $220
Late Summer 2018

Probably the worlds best and largest Pectolite crystals came from the Jeffrey mine years ago. These were often slender, flat blades or needles often in spectacular sprays and groups. Sharp euhedral prisms like these were much more rare. This one is just large, doubly terminated crystals that have crisp sharp edges, glassy faces, is translucent to transparent. Perfect, undamaged glassy prisms in a nice arrangement, no place else on the planet has ever formed Pectolites like this. These have the characteristic one sided chisel termination and a hint of green. A choice thumbnail of a mineral not often considered for fine crystals.

Quartz - pseudocubic form
stock # 18.1-102A
Artesia, Eddy County
New Mexico, United States
2.6 x 2 x 1.8 CM (thumbnail)
price: $500
Spring update

A sharp and complete crystal of the very rare "pseudocubic" habit Quartz, which is also very large for the form. The form is more correctly a skewed cube with overdeveloped rhombohedral faces that are not at 90 degrees but can look like it from several angles. No damage. This was incorrectly attributed to a small Arizona find but it is now confirmed as a very choice New Mexican specimen.

Sphalerite and Calcite
stock #18.AX-353
ZCA Corp./Hyatt Mine, Talcville, St. Lawrence Co.
New York, United States
3 x 2.4 x 1.7 CM (thumbnail)
price: $320
Late Summer 2018

Gem clear crystals of honey colored Sphalerite with a few small white Calcites as accent on massive matrix. Very fine large thumbnail with fine bright luster. Better in person, these are now a modern US classic, but not often available. Ex. Hladysz collection, several crystals show pronounced smooth curved faces.

Beryl var. Emerald
stock #8.1-389
Muzo Mining District
Boyaca, Colombia
2.3 x 1.8 x 1.4 CM (thumbnail)
price: $1950
Late Summer 2018

A single fat gem crystal with excellent color, very sharp edges, lustrous faces and fine display impact. 8.9 Grams a few inclusions but with good transparency, this was mined in 2007. A small area of attached shale on the backside/bottom is the only matrix, this is all Beryl. It has gotten very uncommon to find such good single gem crystals in Colombia. Newer methods of treatment, filling and enhancement means these can be consumed by gem cutters for much more expensive jewelry. In excellent condition and better in person.

Parisite - single crystal
stock #15.1-197
Muzo Mining District
Boyaca, Colombia
2.4 x 1.6 x 1.2 CM (thumbnail)
price: $950

Large, sharp, and very translucent, this single crystal of Parisite is exceptional. The bright red brown color and glassy luster make this stand out. Parisites have been found sporadically at the Emerald mines near Muzo, but usually much smaller, damaged or opaque. This is a textbook example of the tapering habit seen at Muzo. Perfectly eye clean for damage but very tiny chip can be found with 20X magnification. In 15 years of travel and worki with Colombian minerals, this is the best single crystal of Parisite we have had.
