Native Sulphur on Stibnite and Stibiconite
stock #8.AE-653
Kangjiawan (Shuikoushan) deposit, Changning County, Hengyang Prefecture
Hunan Province, China
9.2 x 7.5 x 5.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $140
Fall 22

A complex cluster of Stibnite and Stibiconite crystals that are speckled with tiny bright yellow crystals of Sulphur. Ex Arthur Edwards collection, this specimen came from finds in 2002 that were at first mislabeled as Valentinite on Stibnite. Sulphur like this is an rather rare combination on Stibnite, it is especially attractive on this piece as the contrast is very distinct.

Stibnite in and on Calcite
stock #22.1-543
Xikuangshan Sb Deposit, Lengshuijiang Co., Loudi Pref.
Hunan Province, China
8.1 x 3.9 x 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $660
Fall 22

A super esthetic specimen from a remarkable find almost 15 years ago at Xikuangshan. This has a delicate transparent Calcite crystal perched on edge that is shot through with metallic Stibnite crystals most of which extend outside of the Calcite. This look great on all sides and the Calcite (3.7 CM across) is well-formed, complete and in fine condition. The black sparkling matrix is a very nice contrast to the metallic Stibnite and the Calcite. This specimen was in the collection of Michel Jouty, and is especially well-composed with a fine architecture.

Atacamite with Libethenite and Hallyosite
stock #22.1-442
Mina La Farola, Cerro Pintado, Tierra Amarilla, Copiopo Province
Atacama Region, Chile
12.1 x 5.9 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $280
Fall 22

An older, sizable and well-crystalized specimen of Copper secondary species from this less well-known mine in Chile. Ex. collection of John Roger Mitchell, who obtained this piece in 1983. Such material is impossible to find today, this is both a choice display piece and a remarkable specimen under magnification.

Apatite (Fluorapatite)
stock #AX-29-071
Ghalangy Mine, Mohamed Agency
FATA Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Pakistan
6.4 x 2.8 x 1.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $1400
Fall 22

A large, etched hexagonal crystal of Apatite that is complete and doubly terminated. There is a minor amount of Lepidolite matrix that sets this crystal off nicely. The violet color and lightly stepped faces are especially striking. Good fluorescence and no damage seen even under good magnification. From a find in 2016, this crystal has unusually fine definition, large size and elongation far better than others we had seen. A choice purple Apatite from anyplace and excellent for this find.

Bromian Chlorargyrite (Embolite)
stock #0591-JM-3253
Broken Hill, Yancowinna County
New South Wales, Australia
7.5 x 5.2 x 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $1500
Fall 22

A fine and super well-crystalized cabinet specimen of this rare Silver Halide. Ex. John Marshall collection, from the famed Broken Hill of Australia which produced the very best of these long ago. This has greenish to yellow waxy crystals standing on massive matrix. Some epitaxial clustering and hoppered stacking of the crystals (see the last photo) is unusual and distinctive. A hefty specimen in hand, the crystals are also unusually large for the specie. John obtained this from Ernie Schlichter in 1994, labels and collection card are included. Formerly known as Embolite, this is certainly a very old piece, these were found from the early 1900's to about 1940. Super rich and rarely available in this size and quality.

Paradamite on Smithsonite
stock #21.1-506
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
8.8 x 6.7 x 5.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $730
Fall 22

A blocky matrix hosts a well-crystallized patch of creamy Smithsonite crystals mixed with bright lemon-yellow and orange Paradamites. A choice and colorful specimen that shows this rare specie very well. Paradamite from Ojuela is considered to be the world’s best, it is a highly sought after uncommon specie. These crystals reach to 8MM in size and are in excellent condition, the Smithsonite adds a nice contrast. Matrix on this piece is a sold blocky type that is not the crumbly and fragile sort. This looks fine by naked eye and is amazing under magnification. The main crystallized area on the matrix is 5.5 CM across. A very good value for a cabinet sized Paradamite.

Hutchinsonite with Barite
stock #22.1-384
Quiruvilca Mine, Santiago de Chuco Province
La Libertad Department, Peru
9x 7.2 x 3.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $390
Fall 22

This rare Thallium specie is almost unheard of in displayable cabinet sided specimens. This is a fine example from an old find at Quiruvilca, with crystals up to 3mm on a huge, (for the specie), Barite matrix. The Barite color and the matrix is a reddish violet, perhaps caused by Realgar and overall there is great luster. It is rare to find a displayable example of this substantial size, it is the largest we have ever seen. Thallium as a dominant element in minerals is not at all common, the crystals of Hutchinsonite are scattered as individuals and sprays most of which are in good condition when magnified but there are some broken zones which is typical of this very fragile mineral.

Fluorite - stepped cubo-octahedral on Quartz
stock #18.1-072
Xiayang, Yongchun County, Quanzhou Prefecture
Fujian Province, China
6.8 x 5.6 x 4.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $1750
Fall 22

Gemmy clear Fluorite with a textbook perfect form of stepped stacked cubo-octahedral habit. From the amazing finds in Fujian Province, this is a choice example of the form, perched on a sparkling Quartz matrix. The Fluorite is 3.9 CM across and is absolutely transparent. In remarkable undamaged condition this is far more impressive in person. The Fluorite has some color change in different lighting and the luster is glass-like throughout.
