Proustite-classic ruby Silver
stock #18.1-322
Shaft 207, Niederschelm, Schelma, Schlema-Hartenstein District, Erzgebir
Saxony, Germany
1.6 x .7 x .6 CM (thumbnail)
price: $300
Late Summer 2018

A complex single crystal of bright red Proustite and just a tiny speck of adhering matrix. Classic Ruby-Silver, from the German Erzgebirge, this has very good luster and the red color shows no sign of fading. Close exam with magnification finds some chipping but most of the crystal faces show good form with glassy striations. Much better in person, this is a choice thumbnail at a very reasonable cost for this highly desired Silver mineral.
SOLD Proustite
stock #SOLD 12.1-247
Imiter Mine, Imiter District, DjebelSaghro, Ouarzazate Province
Souss Massa Draa Region, Morocco
3 x 2.9 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $0
Spring 2013

A very bright and very red crystallized ruby silver specimen from the great Imiter Mine in Morocco. This looks great on all sides and is a really attractive example of this "noble" mineral. Always uncommon especially in this quality, there may not be any more since the mine owners now strictly prohibit any collecting with some miners getting long jail terms.
Proustite (ruby- silver crystals )
stock #12.1-002
Imiter Mine, Imiter District, DjebelSaghro, Ouarzazate Province
Souss- Massa- Draa Region, Morocco
6.7 x 4.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $1350

Proustite is a "noble" silver mineral. It is rare, sometimes beautiful, expensive and highly desirable. From the classic locations in Germany and Chile good pieces often sell for more than double their weight in gold. Recent finds in Morocco produced a lot of low end, affordable specimens but only a few fine pieces. This specimen stands out as fine, with unusually large crystals, excellent ruby color and dense coverage. The largest crystal here is about a centimeter in size, but most are smaller. The matrix is a silver rich Galena/ Acanthite. A real attractive, fine piece well below market for a good example of this "holy grail" specie!
Proustite (ruby silver) on Native Arsenic
stock #8.1-424
Schlema, Erzgebirge
Saxony, Germany
5.3 x 3.2 CM (miniature)
price: $120

A large and nicely textured chunk of Native Arsenic is loaded with vugs and zones of sparkling small crystals of brilliant red Proustite. From the famous old location of Schlema, this would be a very good specimen of Arsenic all on its own. The addition of bright Proustite makes it quite special. Many of the Proustites have damage as seen on magnification but some of the crystals are pristine and complete. They have not lost the Ruby Silver color so this makes a nice contrast
Proustite
stock #7-MOR-210
Bou Azzer District, Tazenakht, Ouarzazate Province
Souss- Massa- Draa Region, Morocco
6.5 x 5.8 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $860

A very rich, estheticly presented and fine specimen of the rarest of the Ruby Silver minerals, Proustite. A large 4.6 CM crystalized mass of nearly pure proustite in association with minor acanthite crystals rises from the matrix. There is no visible damage even under 10x magnification. The individual proustites are brilliant ruby color, lustrous and well formed up to 3 mm in size and arranged on clusters. A great piece that shows the specie well from a great Silver locality, While this is not going to compete with the best old German and Chilean examples, it is affordable and pretty. This is one of the best I have seen from Morocco, likely from the Imiter Mine but I can not confirm the locality beyond the Bou Azzer region.
