Spodumene - dichroic, bi-color crystal
stock #7AE-304
Pech, Chapa Dara District
Kunar Province, Afghanistan
9.1 x 5.3 x 2.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $550
Worldwide mix summer

A big, well terminated, pale but very clear gem crystal of Spodumene. The crystal is strongly dichroic and if rotated in front of a computer monitor the color changes from violet to a mint green. This was collected more than 15 years ago, this is not like the more recent finds. Very good condition, the color is a bit deeper than seen in the photos.
Spodumene- Green
stock #A-19-336
Laghman
Laghman Province, Afghanistan
6 x 4.5 x 3.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $290
Winter 2016-17

An older Afghan gemmy Spodumene crystal that seems to be color stable as this is over 15 years old. This blocky compound crystal has 3 distinct terminations at one end and a crude complex termination on the other. Overall in very good condition damage wise there is some minor contacting. The "hiddenite" name is often used for green Spodumene but that name should be reserved for the type locality. A rather big gem crystal of 164 Grams, this is much larger than could be found from the original locality. A very good value.
Spodumene -gem grade

Pech, Chapa Dara District
Konar (Kunar) Province, Afghanistan
4.6 x 3.4 x 1.8 CM (miniature)

Winter 2016-17

A doubly-terminated, complete and glass clear gem crystal of rich color Spodumene. A perfect floater this has no points of attachment and has exceptional transparency in person. Each face shows a different type of etching, there is no damage at all, simply a nice, colorful and fine crystal. An excellent Afghan Pegmatite gem!
Spodumenne var. Kunzite
stock #ALEC-12-603
Darra-I Pech Pegmatite Field
Konar (Kunar) Province, Afghanistan
11.1 x 7.3 x 9.9 CM (cabinet)
price: $480
Post Tucson 2015

An older, sizable matrix specimen of light blueish Clevelandite hosts a 5.8 CM Kunzite crystal sharply terminated with good color and zoning. Associated are Quartz crystals to over 3 CM and a few scattered Elbaite and Schorl are noted too. The esthetics are quite nice while the Kunzite is nicely etched and in fine undamaged condition. Some chipping and bruises are seen on the quartz which keeps the price quite low but this still displays nicely.
Spodumene (bi-color pink and green)
stock #116-JM-1227

Konar (Kunar) Province, Afghanistan
6.8 x 3.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $380

A very clean pink to green Kunzite (spodumene) with great form and good pastel colors. Ex John Marshall Collection (with labels). From finds in the early 80's in Kunar this age ensures that the colors you see are stable and will not fade. Bi colored Spods are rare and they are clearly not irradiated or faked either. In good condition and mostly gem clear inside, a good gem crystal that will not break the bank.
Spodumene (clear light violet etched crystal)
stock #0062-JM 1399
Pala, San Diego Co.
California, United States
5 x 3.5 CM (miniature)
price: $95

An early Pala, California piece ex John Marshall and C. Goodspeed collections. This specimen is well over 80 years old. In pristine condition with a classic well etched termination and gem clear with very pale color. Very cute classic crystal that is also affordable.
Kunzite (Spodumene)
stock #7 PAK-007
Chitral, Chitral Valley
North West Frontier Province, Pakistan
4.4 x 3 CM (miniature)
price: $150

A sharp, attractive Kunzite with an unusual form caused by two parellel crystals with staggered terminations. Deep color, fine luster, and a more "prismatic" look than most Spodumene. Some slight edge wear is visible but it is very minor, not distracting to this nice gem crystal.
