Quartz - red acicular form
stock #12.1-252
Dalnegorsk, Kavalerovo Mining District
Primorsky Kray, Far Eastern Region, Russia
6.7 x 5.2 x 2.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $290

The Russian red Quartz from Dalnegorsk is unique in the mineral world. These slender, tapering crystals tend to be darker red at the base and a lighter orange to colorless at the tips. This piece shows the habit and color very well. Minimal matrix and despite some tip cleaves the overall condition is better than most of these delicate sprays.
Danburite and Datolite
stock #14.1-214
Dalnegorsk, Kavalerovo Mining District
Primorsky Kray, Far Eastern Region, Russia
3.4 x 2.1 x 1.8 CM (miniature)
price: $325

Gemmy light blue Datolite crystals clustered on a gemmy colorless Danburite crystal. The Danburite has some small etched zones that show re-crystallization, but overall this is a sharp prism. From Dalnegorsk, this is a choice miniature of these two species that looks fine from practically any angle. Our background for this specimen does not specify which part of the mining complex was the source for this piece but it seems certain to be from the Bor Pit. No damage; esthetic and unusual.
Andradite
stock #19.1-510
Sinerechenskoe Skarn,
Primorsky Kray, Far Eastern Region, Russia
6.9 x 4.1 x 2.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $120
Spring 2020

Dark but gemmy Andradite Garnets well exposed on the matrix. The color is a dark red but with strong lighting an oil green to yellow color is seen on some crystals. This locality is well known for the great Quartz crystals often included by Hedenbergite, but the Garnets are also quite choice. These are arranged in both tight clusters and also more isolated. In person the luster is excellent, bright and glassy. Some small rough edges and contacts but overall in very nice condition.
Datolite, Sphalerite and Cumberland habit Quartz
stock #20.FC-135
Dalnegorsk, Kavalerovo Mining District
Primorsky Kray, Far Eastern Region, Russia
7.8 x 4.2 x 4.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $1100

Gem clear Datolite crystals up to 2.3 CM are complexly mingled with doubly terminated "Cumberland habit" Quartz and clusters of very sharp twinned Sphalerites. It is possible to see greenish inclusions inside some Datolites. This is a rich, undamaged multi-specie specimen from Dalnegorsk, that is especially fine in person. The more this piece is examined the more remarkable details are seen. There are many good Dalnegorsk specimens available in all price ranges, this is especially fine and well worth the cost for a superior specimen.
Galena
stock #20.FC-104
Dalnegorsk, Kavalerovo Mining District
Primorsky Kray, Far Eastern Region, Russia
3.8 x3.6 x 2.5 CM (miniature)
price: $780
Spring 2020

A strange and rare habit, I have only ever seen two of these "cruciform" etched Galenas, and this one is very distinct. The complex crystallization presents very well and the bright luster helps to show the cross off from several angles. The matrix in this case is a pair of Calcite crystals that act as a built in base so the specimen stands on its own. The specimen on close examination shows an impressive series of steps and terraces much like a topographic map where the summit is in the form of a cross.
Fluorite on needle Quartz
stock #19.1-761
Dalnegorsk, Kavalerovo Mining District
Primorsky Kray, Far Eastern Region, Russia
9.7 x 7.8 x 6.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $330

The legendary Dalgngorsk deposits occasionally yield a modified cubo-octahedral Fluorite with ice clear windows. These are sometimes sitting on a nest of contrasting opaque slender quartz Tessin habit crystals. This is an choice example of this sort that is far better in person.
Quartz Scepters with Sphalerite, Calcite etc
stock #AX-1-378
Verhniy mine, Dalngorsk
Primorsky Kray, Far Eastern Region, Russia
4.8 x 4.2 x 3 CM (miniature)
price: $285

A well proportioned Scepter of Quartz that has a milky phantom in the head sits on a mix of smaller crystals. Overall very esthetic and looks great from all sides, this is in outstanding condition. Vintage 1992-3 from the Verkhnil (Verhniy) Mine at Dalngorsk, this miniature has nice display impact. Ex William Hladysz collection.
Quartz - scepter with Cumberland habit
stock #18.1-654
Boron Pit, Dal'negorsk, Kavalerovo
Primorsky Kray, Far Eastern Region, Russia
4.8 x 1.7 x 1.6 CM (miniature)
price: $220
Spring 2019

Sceptered Quartz in excellent undamaged condition with the cap having no prism faces. The shaft of the scepter has several tiny Cumberland habit crystals arranged epitaxially, and which also have a yellow zoning. An attractive Quartz specimen of unusual habit from a find in 2018, this looks great from any side.
