Cuprite coated by Malachite
stock #AX-11-226
Onganja Mine, Windhoek District
Khomas Region, Namibia
4 X 3 CM (miniature)
price: $1450
Spring 2013

An important classic, the find of these fantastic Cuprites was made 45 years ago, there have been none since. These are now very rare on the market and this one is in fine condition. On the base and in one corner the malachite coating did not form and the bright red Cuprite is clearly seen. Some chipping is present on backside and underneath but the display side is clean and undamaged. Great color and textbook sharp form are what sets the best old Onjanga Cuprites apart.

Pyromorphite (well-crystallized, older specimen)
stock #0771-JM-2247
Sherman Mine, Burke, Coeurd'Alene District, Shoshone Co.
Idaho, United States
7.3 x 6 x 3.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $740
Spring 2013

A fine old, classic Pyro from the Sherman Mine in Burke, Idaho found long before the modern discoveries at the Bunker Hill mine. From the remarkable John Marshall Pyromorphite collection. Unlike other Idaho Pyros, this has a distinctive color and habit that could pass for an early Phoenixville Pennsylvania piece! In excellent condition, the crystals reach 1 CM in size, filling a vug so densely the specimen is just about 100 percent Pyromorphite with just a little matrix. Rare to see any of this material on the market and super rare in this quality! The last photo shows the crystallized backside of the specimen that is nice but not the better display side by far.

Prehnite crystals on Diopside
stock #AX-5-065
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos (now Val-des-Sources, Estrie,
Quebec, Canada
5.3 x 4.8 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $450
Spring 2013

An exceptional crystallized spray of sharp Prehnite is set on a bright green carpet of acicular Diopside crystals. Excellent condition and with glass-like luster this is an esthetic and fine specimen from this find of a few years ago. Displays very well from several angles.

Babingtonite on Prehnite
stock #8.1-234
Hongquizhen Quarry, Meigu County, Liangshan Yi Pref.
Sichuan Province, China
6.5 x 5.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $130
Spring 2013

The Meigu area produced the best Babingtonites in the world. Enough have been found to make affordable pieces available now. The top pieces still sell for huge sums even in China. This is a nice specimen, though not a top piece, offered at an affordable price. If from a US locality USA just 10 years ago it would have sold for 1500-2000$ quickly! These finds give every collector a chance to have a good example. This has crystals to 2 CM with good luster on green Prehnite. More pretty in person.

Bornite (very fine crystals) with Chalcocite, Quartz, Barite, Chalcopyrite etc.
stock #9.1-296
Dzhezkazgan Mining District
Karaganda Region, Kazakhstan
10.7 x 5.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $875
Spring 2013

Ex. Ernie Schlichter. Bornite is not a rare mineral but in good crystals it is is super rare! The best have come from Kahzakstan, and this is an esthetic and above average example with sharp crystals reaching 2.3 CM on contrasting matrix. Displays great with excellent patina of Blue-Black-Silver hues. By naked eye the condition is quite fine, there are chips found with magnification and typical hairline cracks are noted as seen in the photos. This is in great condition overall for such a delicate mineral, and very attractive for this usually drab specie!
