Quartz - Cumberland habit on Scepter
stock #17.AX-747
Dalnegorsk, Kavalerovo Mining District
Primorsky Kray, Far Eastern Region, Russia
3 x 1.8 x 1.5 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $260
Pre Holiday 2017

Thumbnail of Cumberland (often called Beta Quartz) habit that is esthetically perched on a scepter stalk. The shaft is covered with Chlorite and tiny Quartzes also. The cap is in fine condition, showing complex growth patterns on some faces. The shaft is broken only at the base where it was removed and not visible in mounted display. A super quality competitive thumbnail that looks fine from any angle.
Cobaltite - Modified Cubic crystal
stock #17.1-748
Hakansboda, Lindesberg
Vastmanland, Sweden
3.6 x 2.4 x 2 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $190
Pre Holiday 2017

A sharp 9 MM metallic silver crystal with clear edge modifications perched in matrix. An older specimen from this classic location that has produced perhaps the best ever crystals for the specie. Some minor sulfide overgrowths are seen and the crystal has retained the bright luster that makes these so distinctive. Could easily be trimmed to make a thumbnail if desired. A good example well crystallized for this often damaged specie that is also affordable.
Quartz Faden form, complex chain growth
stock #A-25-033
Waziristan Ophiolite, North Waziristan
FATA Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Pakistan
8.8 x 2.4 x 1.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $430
Pre Holiday 2017

A very fine example from the 2014-1515 find in Waziristan that produced many good to superb Fadens. In perfect undamaged condition, this shows the internal white thread perfectly and the flattened prisms in a chain are lustrous and super clear. Far better in person. Much like a modern sculpture this is the habit that was the most desirable when the find was made, and this specimen is far above average. Now recognized as a world class discovery the source seems to be exhausted and fine pieces like this are getting scarce.
Chalcedony
stock #17.1-286
Mamuju area, Sulawesi Barat province
Sulawesi Island, Indonesia
8.5 x 4.9 x 4 CM (cabinet)
price: $120
Pre Holiday 2017

There is a lot of Manakarra "grape" Chalcedony in the market, but some specimens do stand out. This is complete piece, a floater, undamaged and with fine form. The color ranges from a brilliant wet look purple to a more subdued lilac hue. A dusting of tiny green Quartz adds extra sparkle. Very affordable for this quality, displays well on all sides
Rhodochrosite with Stilbite
stock #17.AX-749
Starnitsa Deposit, Davidkovo, Rhodope Mts.
Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria
4.4 x 4.2 x 2.5 CM (miniature)
price: $160
Pre Holiday 2017

A well formed, brightly colored Rhodochrosite with the unusual associated Stilbite crystals. This comes from the Bulgarian region better known for metallic sulphides and fine Galena. This is from a small find in 2009, but not available to the market until 2015. In excellent condition, the contrast and bright pink color make an attractive display unlike most Bulgarian minerals that are not very colorful. The supply of these is now exhausted and
SOLD Carrollite
stock #SOLD 17.1-750
Kambove
Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire)
4.2 x 3.2 x 3.2 CM (miniature)
price: $0
Pre Holiday 2017

A very big, sharp and lustrous fine Carrolite single crystal. Far beyond the average in quality, this is a killer example. Contacted on the backside where it was attached but in perfect condition on the front. The faces are mirror bright and shows subtle growth structures. The Kambove mine was by far the best source of Carrollite in the world. Particularly fine crystal for the size and clean condition, the form is textbook sharp and impressive.
Indicolite -gem crystals on Cleavelandite, Lepidolite and Cookeite
stock #17.AX-751
Pederniera Claim, Sao Jose da Safira, Doce Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
7.2 x 5.2 x 4.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $2250
Pre Holiday 2017

Gem blue-green crystals of Indicolite (Elbaite) standing free from contrasting matrix from early finds at Pederneira. Esthetic arrangement, the Tourmalines have complex multi-pointed terminations that may be recrystallized. One smaller crystal is broken and there is what looks like one small repair, but the larger prisms are fine and undamaged. Nearly all of these have many repairs but this smaller one seems a lot more intact than most. The longest crystal is 3.7 CM. Larger specimens of this color and habit are seen in top collections and sell at the very top of the spectrum. This more modest piece has a strong display character and is an excellent value.
Anglesite -gemmy single crystal
stock #17.1- 743
Touissit, Touissit-Bou Beker Dist., Jerada Province
Oriental Region, Morocco
1.6 x .8 x .4 CM (thumbnail)
price: $320
Pre Holiday 2017

Perfect, transparent single Anglesite crystal with the top 2/3 rds bright yellow. From the great finds at Touissit that produced the very best Anglesites even found. Choice thumbnail, the color on this is fully natural. Some of these were treated to enhance color in the 1980s but the results left a telltale dull luster. This is a clean glassy, natural thumbnail with no issues!
