Fluorite on Lollingite
stock #A-11-017
Huanggang Mine, Chifeng Prefecture, Hexigten Banner, Ulanhead League
Inner Mongolia Region, China
3.6 x 3.2 x 1.7 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $280
Pre Holiday 2017

Well-formed transparent Fluorite on crystalline blades of Lollingite in an attractive arrangement. A fine example from the Inner Mongolian finds at the Huanggang Mine. The display surface is perfect and undamaged, the back of the Fluorite has a clean geometric contact but is undamaged. The Lollingite from here is certainly some of the best ever found, the addition of fine Fluorite makes this miniature especially attractive.
Fluorite in Dolomite cast
stock #17.1-696-17a
Walworth Quarry, Walworth, Wayne County
New York, United States
3.1 x 2.8 x 1.7 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $160
Pre Holiday 2017

A single gem-clear cube of Walworth Fluorite is perched perfectly inside a thin Dolomite cast. Walworth Fluorites are classic but not often available as few are found each year. This is even more unusual as the thin shell or "cup" is an uncommon matrix composed of tiny Dolomte crystals. The Fluorite is clean, undamaged and colorless. This could trim to thumbnail size if desired.
Rosasite on Malachite ps. after Azurite crystals
stock #17.1-697
Tsumeb
Otavi-Bergland district, Oshikoto, Namibia
3.6 x 2.6 x 2.4 CM (thumbnail)
price: $550
Pre Holiday 2017

One of the more famed Pseudomorphs from Tsumeb is Rosasite replacing Malachite that has replaces Azurite crystals. This is an excellent example with a thin outer zone of Rosasite that has several small Calcite rhombs sprinkled on the surface. Attractive and now quite uncommon, the main crystal is in perfect condition. Other crystals on the back and bottom side are broken showing the malachite core, does not affect display. A big thumbnail with a lot of good visual impact.
Diopside -Gem crystals, classic locale
stock #Alec-35-034
Calvin Mitchell Prospect, Dekalb, St Lawrence County
New York, United States
5.7 x 4.7 x 4.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $320
Pre Holiday 2017

A spray of gemmy green Diopside crystals (to 1.4 CM) stand on a matrix of Quartz from famed Dekalb, NY locale. The Diopsides are undamaged and glassy, terminated and a few show fibrous areas inside. Not often available and usually quite expensive.
Grossular- with minor Diopside
stock #Alec-10-947
York River Skarn, Bancroft, Hastings County
Ontario, Canada
4.7 x 3.6 x 2.8 CM (miniature)
price: $180
Pre Holiday 2017

A main large orange-red Garnet (3.3 CM) with a few smaller crystals and green Diopside from this important Skarn. The major crystal is sharp, lustrous, translucent larger and sharper than others I have seen from York River. The smaller crystals are gemmy in areas. Contacts and breaks are on the back and edge where this was attached, but that is not seen on the the display side which is in fine condition. Collected in the 1960s, formerly in the William Haladyz collection.
Calcite with Pyrite and Pyrrhotite
stock #16.1-706
Cavnic (Kapnic)
Maramures, Romania
8.2 x 6.5 x 4.6 CM (cabinet /museum)
price: $690
Pre Holiday 2017

Colorful and with a flowerlike form, this is an excellent Calcite from the famed Cavnic mine of Romania. Sharp scalenohedral crystals radiating in a spherical mass have been coated with small Pyrite crystals and have internal coloring perhaps from Hematite. The back of the mass is broken where it was removed but the front display side is quite fine and undamaged. Lots of impact and far better in person.
Rhodochrosite- Sharp Rhombs with Quartz, Pyrite and Calcite
stock #17.1-AXA-22-058
Wudong mine, Liubao, Cangwu Co. Wuzoh
Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China
7.2 x 6 x 3.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $2600
Pre Holiday 2017

Intense red color and fine translucent Rhombs from early finds at the Wudong (Wutong) mine. This is one of the few pieces that can match the color and style of some good Sweet Home Mine specimens. Choice and in great condition as seen. The rhombs are just over 2.5 CM (an inch) and very esthetic in their placement. The Pyrite adds a golden sparkle and the overall display is very eyecatching. Later finds produced more pale red and flatter crystals. A less expensive alternative to a similar Colorado specimen but still a fine Rhodo!
Fluorapatite (Apatite CaF) classic locale
stock #17.1-694
Pulsifer Quarry, Mount Apatite District, Auburn
Maine, United States
2 x 1.3 x 1.2 CM (thumbnail)
price: $330
Pre Holiday 2017

A classic and esthetic Pulsifer Apatite with the distinctive habit crystals. From the vintage Terry Szenics mining project, there is minimal matrix here, mostly all purple Apatite with some minor Lepidolite. Much better than average with very good form and naked eye appeal but this is not a specimen for perfectionists. There is some edge wear and smaller crystals are chipped or broken on the base area. The price reflects this but still the overall quality is far better than typical. These Apatites are legendary, now very scarce in this level of quality.
