Cerussite with Malachite, Deviline etc. Vintage
stock #18.1-156
Rezbanya, Baita Mining District, Nucet
Bihor, Romania
7 x 4.4 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $800
Worldwide mix summer

Glassy, clear and sharp prismatic crystals of Cerussite in a protected vug. This was collected back when Rezbanya was in Hungary, now called Baita, which is in Bihor, Romania. There are references to good Cerussite specimens in 19th century mineral texts but these are almost never seen even in old collections. Attractive and in fine condition, the Cerussites have a light cognac color and are transparent. From an old collection in the Czech Republic, this is a significant, vintage Roumanian specimen
Quartz- Amethyst Phantom
stock #AX-4-432
Goboboseb Mts., Brandberg area,
Erongo Region, Namibia
6.2 x 3.2 x 2.9 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $750
Worldwide mix summer

Gem clear and incredibly perfect, this is a stunning Goboboseb Amethyst that is far better in person. Goboboseb Quartz is world famous for its elegant form but exceptional pieces like this are actually very rare. In impeccable condition and with amazing inclusions this is from that tiny percentage that can be called superb. Sharp negative Quartz crystal inclusions and scepters are seen with magnification inside the lower part of the crystal as are small blood red blades of Hematite. One of the best we have handled, not large in size but quality.
Cuprite - pseudo Malachite
stock #18.1-277
Chessy Copper Mine, Chessy-les-Mines, Villefranche, Rhone
Rhone-Alpes, France
1.1 x 1 x 1 CM (thumbnail)
price: $150
Worldwide mix summer

A very sharp complete "floater" cuprite with an uncommon form. This Cuprite is coated with and altering to Malachite from the classic Chessy-les-Mines. Most of these are octahedrons but this is a rhombic-dodecahedron, much like a Garnet shape. No damage, all faces are complete and present. Exam under the microscope shows that there is still considerable cuprite present here this is not a complete pseudo. Choice
Galena- Spinel Twin habit
stock #AX-27-133
Krushev Dol Mine, Madan, Rhodope Mts.
Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria
5.9 x 5.6 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $875
Worldwide mix summer

Superb, textbook example of flattened Spinel twins in a choice Galena specimen. From the finds four years ago that were big news and yeilded some of the best Galenas of all time. This specimen is top notch the crystals are perfect all around, the edges undamaged and the structure looks like extraterrestrial architecture. A few Quartz crystals add a nice accent in contrast to the bright metallic Galena. More impressive in person, this is a killer with display impact far beyond its size.
Brochantite- mix of needles and thicker crystals
stock #18.AX-224
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
4.6 x 3.2 x 2.3 CM (miniature)
price: $650
Worldwide mix summer

Bright green Brochantite crystals standing on end in a dense cluster. The matrix is mostly Brochantite as well, and formed of packed needles. The larger, thicker crystals are quite robust and these have a fine silky luster. From the epic finds at Milpillas, these Brochantites are one of the great surprises from the oxidized zone of this incredible Copper mine.
Quartz Scepter (very light Amethyst)
stock #18.1-263
Fat Jack Mine, Bradshaw Mountains, Yavapai County
Arizona, United States
5.6 x 4.2 x 3 CM (small cabinet/large miniature)
price: $250
Worldwide mix summer

A delicate matrix scepter with just a faint hint of purple and fine transparency. There are several small Quartz in parallel position that makes for a complex cluster. In excellent condition, this is not the typical form for the Fat jack, almost every scepter is more thick and few are on matrix, but we are assured by the collector that this did indeed come from a small find in 2000. Choice.
Cobaltite -classic locale
stock #17.1-780
Hakansboda, Lindesberg
Vastmanland, Sweden
5.8 x 4.3 x 3.4 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $240
Worldwide mix summer

An excellent sharp Swedish Cobaltite crystal on typical matrix block of mixed Sulfides (Chalcopyrite etc). The Cobaltite is a modified cube (8MM) with distinct striations and fine metallic luster that is mirror bright as seen. Looks fine by eye, but the cube has a corner contact at one edge seen with magnification and there is a small crack in the crystal not visible without 10x magnification. That said this is far better than average and as near to perfect as we have seen. These are not common and in this quality very rare, often quite pricy.
Fluorite, Ferberite on Quartz with Muscovite and Arsenopyrite
stock #AX-15-246
Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang County
Hunan Province, China
6.7 x 5.2 x 4.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $375
Worldwide mix summer

A choice multi-specie specimen from Yaoganxian, ex Shields Flynn collection. The Quartz in person is very clear, has a sharp termination and you can see Ferberite and Muscovite inside. There are unknown white inclusions inside as well. The Ferberite is lustrous, and the Fluorite is transparent as it should be. Not perfect however, when seen under 10x magnification there are rough spots and the smaller Feberite has chipping, but the overall quality is far better than average and this has the sort of esthetics that displays very well. The price reflects the imperfections which for many collectors makes this a very good value.
