Gem clear crystals of honey colored Sphalerite with a few small white Calcites as accent on massive matrix. Very fine large thumbnail with fine bright luster. Meterorite- Sikote Alin
stock #0091-JM-1851
Paseka Village, Sikhote-Alin Mountains
Primorsky Kray, Far Eastern Region, Russia
4.3 x 3.1 x 1.5 CM (miniature)
price: $190
Late Summer 2018

A choice 53 Gram Sihkote-Alin meteorite that shows the pitting, ablation and fusion crusts on all sides, a so called "complete individual". This is one of the most famed meteorite falls from 1947, the resulting Iron meteorite specimens are the coarsest octahedrites known. This piece has sharp and distinct "thumbprints" and the dark color and luster for this fall. Ex John Marshall collection.
Orthoclase- Carlsbad twin, unsual locale
stock #18-AX-22-273

Kangwon Province, North Korea
6.8 x 5.4 x 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $150
Late Summer 2018

It is very rare to see any minerals from North Korea. Most specimens that are known are from old collections and usually have vague locality information. This is such a piece, with textbook perfect form but rough texture, complete Carlsbad twin. No damage, displays fine on any side, a simple floater. The mineralogical literature about the Northern Korea is sparse but it seems there are some significant deposits and Pegmatites that may someday be sources of wonderful things. Until then, specimens like this are very special and quite uncommon.
Crocoite and Vauquelinite -Type Locality
stock #0654-JM-4287
Berezovsk Mine, Ekaterinburg, Sverdlovskaya Oblast, Middle Urals
Urals Region, Russia
8.8 x 5.6 x 4.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $880
Late Summer 2018

Very rich, fine old classic specimen (with 4 prior labels) that is well crystalized. Excellent color contrast with the bright red Crocoite and green Vauquelinite, This seems to be a late 18th or early 19th century specimen, (what may be a date of 1895 is on one label but it may also be a collection number). The discovery of Crocoite at this locality dates back to 1763 and it has been renamed many times over the years. The style of specimen and the association of good Vauquelinite is typical of the vintage pieces. Ex John Marshall collection, his collection card and a previous label indicate it sold for $12.00 in 1956, a vast sum for any mineral at that time. The August 2016 Mineralogical record article on this locality offer a wealth of information and several other good specimen photos. This specimen is far beyond average quality with only very minor bruising, most crystals are intact and are well exposed on the matrix. Virtually impossible to find this quality now on the market, better in person too.

Muzo Mining District
Boyaca, Colombia
2.3 x 1.8 x 1.4 CM (thumbnail)
price: $1950
Late Summer 2018

A single fat gem crystal with excellent color, very sharp edges, lustrous faces and fine display impact. 8.9 Grams a few inclusions but with good transparency, this was mined in 2007. A small area of attached shale on the backside/bottom is the only matrix, this is all Beryl. It has gotten very uncommon to find such good single gem crystals in Colombia.
