Pyromorphite
stock #0281-JM-693
Susanna Mine, Leadhills, South Lanarkshire
Strathclyde, Scotland
7 x 5.2 x 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $400
Late Summer 2018

An impressive dense mass of small Pyromorphite crystals encrusting all sides of the matrix. From the classic Susanna Mine Leadhills, Scotland, this was in the John Marshall collection. Collected by him in 1970 such fine specimens have not been found for decades, it was the end of an era of richly productive field collecting. In fine condition with a deep green color this is simply an attractive, sparkling specimen from a classic locale.
Quartz- Red Phantom, classic locale
stock #18.1-316
Bamble (Bamle)
Telemark, Norway
2.8 x 1.5 x 1 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $45
Late Summer 2018

Sharp phantom of red Quartz seen inside this old specimen from Bamle (Telemark) Norway. As seen the crystal has some bruises and so is not for a perfectionist, but it is a nice colorful piece from this locale famed for Barites. Inside the Quartz there are dark spheres (Pyrite?) and deeper red clouds of Hematite. Pre 1935 vintage with an old French label, these are never seen for sale.
Fluorite -color change
stock #17.1-193A
Xiayang, Yongchun County, Quanzhou Prefecture
Fujian, China
6.3 x 3.1 x 2.2 (cabinet)
price: $480
Late Summer 2018

From this great new find, this is a superb small cabinet specimen of sharp, undamaged and very colorful Fluorite. The color shift on these Fluorites is striking, it goes from a royal blue to a deep purple depending on the light source. The crystals are wonderful modified cubes, transparent and have a fine contrast to the matrix. We examined hundreds of pieces from this find and selected just a few, there were many damaged pieces and this level of perfection was not common. The discovery of these in Fujian province was an exciting new find last year and has now already dried up.
SOLD Grossular V. Hessonite
stock #SOLD 18.1-317
Monte Argentea, Arenzana, Genova
Liguria, Italy
4.5 x 3.3 x 1.7 CM (miniature)
price: $0
Late Summer 2018

Super bright lustrous Garnets on a matrix plate from this Italian alpine area. Choice piece with sharp crystals up to 7 mm. It appears the matrix was split and repaired along a crack seen on the backside, the front display side shows no evidence of any repair. Small bits of Clinochlore and Calcite are on the display face but mostly this is a dense with Hessonite crystals many of which seem to have some epitaxial alignment. A good vaule for a nice Italian Garnet
