Amethyst - scepter
stock #16.1-222
Fat Jack Mine, Bradshaw Mountains, Yavapai County
Arizona, United States
5.2 x 2 x 1.4 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $700
Late Summer 2018

A very sharp, clear, light hued Amethyst scepter in flawless condition from the Fat Jack. Some wispy zoning is noted as is a multi stepping just below the head. We do not see many of these available and almost none with this clarity and undamaged condition. Outstanding, fine Arizona Amethyst.
Azurite
stock #18-AX-3-288
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
3.7 x 2.2 x 1.3 CM (miniature)
price: $340
Late Summer 2018

A nicely perched deep azure-blue crystal on contrasting matrix. The habit is typical from Milpillas in the early finds and looks fine from several angles. Milpillas was such a productive locality when the Azurites were found that they are still very affordable. This piece is well above the average for quality and esthetics as seen. No damage but some small contacting that is not on the logical display angles. Very choice luster, sharp and with very bright color especially when well lit.
Calcite on Celestite
stock #18-AX-19-260
Clay Center, Ottawa County
Ohio, United States
5.3 x 4 x 2.4 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $85
Late Summer 2018

A nice spray of flat Celestite blades hosting light yellow Calcites. The Calcite are doubly terminated and scalenohedral. The Clay Center area has been a prolific mineral locale for decades best known for Fluorite but also a source of nice Celestite. In fine condition and displays well.
Cobaltoan Dolomite with Calcite and Malachite
stock #18.1-436
Mashamba West Mine, Kolwezi, Katanga Copper Crescent
Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire)
6.3 x 3.8 x 2.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $550
Late Summer 2018

The intense color of a good Cobaltoan Dolomite is unlike any other, unique in the mineral world. This specimen has top intense color, and the crystals are unusually well formed, some in tabular habit to 1.1 CM. In excellent condition as seen, this is an older piece collected years ago. Sawn on the back the front side is an open elongated vug that has protected the crystals well. Small dark green Malachite crystals are a nice color contrast. Super display esthetics and electric bright color jump out in any array of minerals.
Hematite Pseudo after Magnetite
stock #18. AX-19-437
Payun Volcano, Altiplano de Payun Matru
Mendoza, Argentina
4.2 x 2.2 x 1.7 CM (miniature)
price: $95
Late Summer 2018

The form of these Hematite pseudos is simply incredible. This is a complete floater, no damage or contacts, sharp, metallic luster and very well detailed. One of the best mineral finds of the past several years the Payun Volcano mineralogy is fascinating and the morphology of the better crystals like this is exceptional.
SOLD Calcite on zoned Fluorite
stock #SOLD 18.1-438
Rosiclare Level, Denton Mine, Haris Creek Sub-district, Hardin County
Illinois, United States
6.5 x 4.8 x 3.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $0
Late Summer 2018

The corner section of a zoned Fluorite crystal (purple-blue with yellow core) is the matrix for a cluster of Calcite in transparent scalenohedral forms. Several Calcites have a milky phantom in the center, and contrast well with the Fluorite. Ex. Hitchings collection, this was purchased in 1990. The Fluorite is a partial crystal cleaved as seen, the Calcites are in excellent condition, only one cleave found on the backside, the front display face is pristine. With backlighting this glows and the color is very strong.
Fluorite on Smoky Quartz with Microcline
stock #18.1-295
Dreamtime claim, Crystal Peak, Teller County
Colorado, United States
5.5 x 3.3 x 2.1 CM (small cabinet/large miniature)
price: $185
Late Summer 2018

A classic Colorado pegmatite mineral from a relatively new find at the Dreamtime claim. Cubic deep purple Fluorites are perched on Smokey Quartz with some adhering Microcline. Esthetic presentation, this looks even better with backlight (we have not photographed this with backlight as that can be misleading). In person the Quartz is more transparent. A nice example of the Fluorites in this find very cool find.
Vesuvianite with Grossular
stock #18.1-297
Sierra de la Cruz, Municipio de Sierra Mojada
Coahuila, Mexico
7.3 x 5.7 x 4.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $1250
Late Summer 2018

A killer, this is a superb Vesuvianite from the long past "Lago de Jaco" finds at what is now known as Sierra de las Cruces. Better in person, this is the best specimen we have seen available and is an important piece for several reasons. Large (5 CM) translucent and complete Vesuvianites in an esthetic cluster sprinkled with Grossular crystals. The Garnets are zoned and some have a distinct purple color which is very rare. These were found in the 1955-70 era and not of any quality since. Top shelf esthetics, unusually bright luster, complex face geometry, clear edge modifications and unusually well defined crystal architecture. Several terminations have a yellow-green zoning that highlights complex growth structures and are very eyecatching.
