Goshenite (Beryl) on Muscovite
stock #6.2-074
Mt. Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co., Mianyang Pref.
Sichuan, China
12.8x10x4.5 (cabinet)
price: $475

A matrix of reddish muscovite provides a good contrast to these Goshenite crystals. The largest is 3.8CM and is partly gemmy with a very sharp tabular form. This form is also different from the usual tabular beryl (aquamarines) from this location, and are far less common. Goshenite is one of the rarer types of beryl and these are very fine examples, not often available. The underside of the matrix is sawn which is common in collecting these, this one has a crack that seems to be a repair of the matrix, it is completely invisible on the display side.
Calcite with Realgar inclusions
stock #6.2-066
Shimen (Jiepiayu) Mine, Shimen County, Changde Prefecture
Hunan Province, China
11x7x4CM (cabinet)
price: $2250

Simply incredible! A brilliant red cluster of calcite on matrix with small realgar crystals. Killer esthetics. We obtained this at the mine in 2003 and sold it shortly after- it was the best of the find. Since then we have not seen anything like this. We are pleased to have it back again for resale, The largest calcite crystal is 7.2 CM, and the piece displays well from multiple angles, but it does have a cleave on the backside. The red color on the calcite is from both a coating and inclusions that is primarily realgar, some recent analysis of similar materials have fund trace amounts of some rare rsenic minerals, this one has not been tested for those. Really striking color, the display side has no noticable damage. This will really jump out of any calcite display!
Calcite
stock #6.2-057
Shimen (Jiepiayu) Mine, Shimen County, Changde Prefecture
Hunan Province, China
9x5.5CM (cabinet)
price: $375

A single sharp, gemmy calcite crystal that has a light amber color and is in outstanding condition. Great form and luster, the clarity at the tip is very good. Shimen has produced some very fine calcites, among the world's best they are still a bargain compared with most other locations.
Cinnabar on Dolomite
stock #6.2-053
Chatian Mine, Fenghuang
Hunan Province, China
7.2x4x6 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $400

A sawn matrix block shows an open vug with several forms of cinnabar crystals, some are gemmy and very sharp reaching 1 cm. Some damage to crystals at the edge of the pocket but not excessive. This relatively dense coverage (there are about 10 crystals here) is not common and the best crystals here are very good indeed.
Calcite with minor realgar
stock #6.2-064
Shimen (Jiepiayu) Mine, Shimen County, Changde Prefecture
Hunan Province, China
14.5x13.5x11 CM (cabinet)
price: $485

A substantial cluster of fine calcites in very good condition and with great translucence and some transparency. The largest crystal is 13 CM and the color is a light yellow to amber ranging to white. A good sized cabinet piece this has several possible display sides.
HOLD Beryl (aquamarine) on Muscovite
stock #HOLD 6.2-073
Mt. Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co., Mianyang Pref.
Sichuan, China
8.2x5 CM (cabinet)
price: $800

A single tabular crystal perfectly perched on a reddish muscovite matrix. The crystal could not be better displayed, and is in fine condition. The crystal is 5.5 CM across and over 2 cm thick with a light green to blue color and some clear parts showing some etching. Tiny bits of muscovite are embedded in the beryl adding some texture. Really great form on this small cabinet piece!
