Triphane (Spodumene) Large Gem crystal
stock #7 AC -305
Laghman Province, Afghanistan
33.8CM X 4.6CM X 2.6 CM Thick (cabinet /museum)
price: $4500

A HUGE and impressive monster that is doubly terminated, top gem grade yellow triphane. Sharp, glassy lustre and damage free with only some tiny bits of matrix adhearing to the main prism which is over a foot long!. One end has the classic hackly / fibrous termination while the other shows a staggered pair of prismatic tips with some fine growth hillocks. This crystal like all fine gem spodumene is highly dichroic and shows an excellent orange -pink transition on the C axis. The piece has been in a private collection for several years and the color (unlike many) is quite stable. Good triphane has never been plentiful. This one seems to have been from the major find of 99-2000 and I have not seen much new material available over the past few years, and none as large and fine as this. I consider this a very fine display piece that is both reasonably priced and will likely have outstanding investment value
stock #7-BW-211
Graves Mt., Lincoln Co.
Georgia, United States
6.8 x 5.4 s 5.0 CM (cabinet)
price: $375

A big, doubly terminated crystal from Americas great Rutile locale, Graves Mt. This shows two distinctly different termination forms and has good luster. There are substantial contacts on the piece some with minor muscovite ( a common occurence here) in the faces, but the large size and unusual form are what makes this piece a good one.
SOLD Pink Fluorite on Schist
stock #SOLD 6.2-870
Gilgit, Northern Areas, Pakistan
11.4 x 7.7 x 5.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $0

Simply a very impressive pink flourite! Huge for the species, esthetic and with good color, this is a very fine pink fluorite from a find of 3 years ago that was very limited. The largest crystal here is an impressive 6.6 CM tall. There are some faces with selective frosting and small growth hillocks that are classic for the better alpine Fluorites. All of the fluorite XLls have some muscovite bits adhering and embedded in some faces and some contacting is evident too, This is a minor distraction since overall the form and color make this a very fine display piece of the most sought after Fluorite. If this was French or Swiss (or even Peruvian) the price would be exponentially higher. This one is certainly a fine investment and a very good value!
stock #7 AZ-117
Copper Queen Mine , Cochise county, Bisbee
Arizona, United States
10x10x 4.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $4000

A superb, classic locality piece with fantastic esthetics and rich color. This is essentially all Azurite with a tiny bit of malachite on the reverse side, and numerous micro crystals several of the classic species the locality is famous for. This specimen is composed of well crystallized Azurite in several habits up to 1 CM in size. This stands without aid and is very 3 dimensional. The condition is exceptional as this example is clearly very old, likely from the heyday of the mine in the later 1800's. Rare to find in this condition and quality !
Fluorapatite on Microcline
stock #7-13-414
Anti-Atlas Mts., Morocco
9 x 7 x7 CM (cabinet)
price: $250

A pinkish matrix of crystalized Microcline is host to many yellow- green crystals of Fluorapatite many of which are doubly terminated. These crystals are a little greener than the classic Mexican Mercado examples and with a very different matrix. This is not a common locality. There are some broken crystals evident.
Franckeite (var Potosiite)
stock #7-R-13-193
San Jose Mine, Oruro
Oruro Department, Bolivia
7.5x4.6 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $1250

Potosiite is the rare Tin poor variety of the rare mineral Franckeite, and was a separate species until it was discredited in 1997. It is still a very rare Sulfide with crystals larger than micros considered huge. From a small find of the worlds largest and best crystals at the San Jose mine, this is a top example with individual crystals to 1.3 cm. For this rare and ugly mineral this is a true killer and even esthetic! This was rated as one of the best 7 pieces found.
