Grossular green-core "frog egg"
stock #18 -AX-392
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
1.7 x 1.6 x 1.4 CM (thumbnail)
price: $290

A small thumbnail showing intense green core clear Grossular crystals. This habit was often called "frog egg" and was only found at the Jeffrey Mine, and only rarely. Ex Larry White collection, he obtained this in 1975, at that time it was labeled as a Uvarovite, a common error when these were first found. This specimen has super sharp, gemmy crystals with a small bit of matrix. The luster is bright glassy, transparent and is over all in fine condition. Looks especially great under magnification where small details can pop out. These have become very hard to get and it seems there will never be more. Small but very eye catching.
Prehnite -elongated crystals
stock #18.1-393
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
3.9 x 3 x 1.8 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $130
Late Summer 2018

The amazing Prehnite crystals from Jeffrey mine took many forms and habits, unlike anything ever seen elsewhere. Although Prehnite is not really a scarce mineral, sizable prismatic Prehnite crystals are incredibly rare. This prismatic Prehnite cluster is a good example, sharp, with some complete doubly terminated crystals to 3.8 CM long. The luster is pearly and the crystal tips are transparent, the body is more milky translucent. There is chipping only on the outer edges, the center area is pristine and undamaged. A good small miniature showing an elongated habit, wide center sections and with square cross section terminations.
