Wulfenite with Calcite, Quartz etc
stock #18.1-283
Ahumada Mine, Los Lamentos
Chihuahua, Mexico
8.2 x 4.9 x 4.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $375
Late Summer 2018

Dozens of lustrous wet-look Wulfenites are clustered in recesses on a complex matrix. Several of the Wulfenites are transparent on close exam, and they contrast well with the Calcite, Dolomite and a few colorless Quartz crystals. Most of the specimen is in fine condition but close (10x magnification) finds some small areas of chipping. By eye a strong display piece with good contrast and color. Ex Immer Cook collection, this was obtained from Schortmanns Minerals more than 40 years ago.

Quartz, red doubly terminated (Eisenkiesel)
stock #18.1-412
Chella, Valencian Community
Valencia, Spain
2.3 x 1.2 x 1 CM (thumbnail)
price: $60
Late Summer 2018

A choice single crystal of the blood red "Eisenkiesel" habit, complete all around. With strong bright Hematite inclusions, these Spanish Quartzes are distinctive. The local name for these is "Jacinto de Compostela" and they are unlike any other Quartz.

Barite with Calcite and Chalcopyrite
stock #18.1-324
Niobec Mine, St Honore
Quebec, Canada
5.1 x 3.5 x 1.7 CM (small cabinet/large miniature)
price: $160
Late Summer 2018

A choice, sharp, partly transparent Barite without damage from the great pocket finds at Niobec. Nearly all of the Barites we see from this zone have at least some chipping, I am told they formed on the pocket roof and were mostly all dislodged, being damaged in the process. This small specimen has a perfect, sharp and complete termination, is dusted with tiny Chalcopyrites and has a few sharp Calcites as well. A fine example from this modern classic find.

Calcite -light violet
stock #18.1-411
Hyatt Mine, Talcville, St. Lawrence County
New York, United States
3.4 x 2.1 x 1.7 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $60
Late Summer 2018

A single scalenohedral Calcite crystal with a light Violet hue. Sharp with a slight milky zoning, this is in good condition as well. Calcites from this locale are not often available.

Shattuckite
stock #AX-14-244
Kaokoveld Plateau
Kunene Region, Namibia
6.8 x 5.1 x 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $350
Late Summer 2018

An esthetic and pure mass of the Copper Silicate Hydroxide - Shattuckite. Very good color in a three dimensional specimen. This has a sculptural form holding an open vug much like a vase. The inner surfaces are all a delicate botryoidal blue velvet and the edges show the fibrous structure as well. From the limited finds made in 2013-5 in the Kaokoveld, These were a significant discovery at that time, and remain as some of the best specimens ever for the specie.

Kammererite- Brilliant red-purple crystals
stock #AX-30-033
Kop Krom Mine, Kop Daglari
Erzurum Province, Turkey
7.8 x 3.8 x 2.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $1100
Late Summer 2018

A killer in person, top quality chromian Clinoclore (Kammererite) in a quality that is simply not available anymore. Outstanding, unusually brilliant, rich deep purple Kammererite in large well formed crystals. These are transparent gem grade, sharp and in perfect condition. It seems there will not be anymore Kammererite from Turkey, even average pieces are now hard to get classics. Widely regarded as the very best ever found, the Kammererites of Kop Krom stand out worldwide. Most specimens were druses of very small crystals, pretty but not exceptional. However, this specimen has many big 7-8 mm plus sized prisms on a bright druse. Eyecatching display piece that is one of the best in this size.
