Adamite- Manganoan (purple) with Austinite
stock #19.1-752
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
2.8 x 2.2 x 2 CM (thumbnail)
price: $700

Killer thumbnail with intense bright color and great esthetics. A cluster of Adamite crystals showing saturated color zoning and featuring a saturated Purple sector. In perfect, undamaged condition. The back side and a few other spots have some nice small balls of Austinite as well, an unusual combination that adds a bit to the overall interest. Purple Adamite from Mina Ojuela is one of the most desired of Mexican minerals, this color and quality is found rarely and prized.
Fluorite -deep purple -fluorescent red
stock #19.1-758
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
4.7 x 3.6 x 3.1 CM (miniature)
price: $330

Rich "royal purple" cubes on a contrasting gossan matrix from the prolific Mina Ojuela. Excellent transparenc with lightly etched faces this has the best color that can be found at this locality and has the rare brilliant red fluorescence that makes this Fluorite unique. In great condition as seen, the display side is undamaged there are some contacts on the backside only and not seen. Choice and eyecatching, the red UV response is especially strong on this specimen.
Elbaite -multi color zoned
stock #17.1-412
Santa Rosa
Minas Gerais, Brazil
3 x 1.5 x 1.4 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $420

A glassy, clean and many colored crystal of Elbaite from an old find (1970 vintage) at Santa Rosa. I count four or five colors at least with some gentle gradations. The termination is the flat basal type and has a hint of blue in some lighting but not so strong as a classic blue cap. In excellent condition though there are some tiny rough spots that are sub millimeter in size and not easy to see . A very nice gem crystal with a choice color pallet zoning from this get locale.
faden Quartz with tabular form
stock #AX-25-040
Waziristan Ophiolite, North Waziristan
FATA Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Pakistan
7.3 x 3.8 x 1.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $360

A perfect stack of tabular Quartz, gem clear and undamaged with a very distinct faden (string). The faden is at a slight angle off the C axis and is also slightly tapered. The flattened Quartz alone would be a very nice specimen, sharp, clear and lustrous but the strong faden and the textbook form make this especially choice. There have been occasional finds of faden quartz in Waziristan, this example comes from one of the last large pockets in 2015. Prior to these finds such a perfect Quartz from other locales would have been a magazine cover (and costly). The Waziristan Quartz finds did produce a lot of quite good pieces and the market price is currently much more affordable. Well above average and better in person too.
