Agate (Laguna) polished nodule
stock #18.1-596
Ojo Laguna, Estacion Ojo Laguna, Municipio de Ahumada
Chihuahua, Mexico
4.2 x 4 x 1.2 CM (miniature)
price: $280

Laguna Agates are unique in their colors and distinctive patterns. These are highly prized and usually very expensive in larger sizes. This smaller sized specimen is from an older find several decades ago, and has vivid intense color contrast. Such perfect form and color pallet in a larger cabinet size would be a solid 4 figure specimen. A great value for a reasonably priced but perfectly beautiful nodule.

Gaudefroyite
stock #AX-14-387
Wessels Mine, Hotazel, Northern Kalahari Mn Fields
Northern Cape Province, South Africa
1.7 x 1.1 x .7 CM (thumbnail)
price: $475

A top killer thumbnail of Gaudefroyite, the rare manganese mineral only known in decent crystals from a few places, all in the Kalaharie Manganese fields. This specimen is a stellar example with textbook form, sharp edges and bright luster. This is a large (for the specie) main crystal with a few smaller crystals on the base, and the prism has none of the crudeness or dull faces usually seen. Superb specimen of a usually unattractive rare, black mineral.

Descloizite -stacked
stock #16.1-635
Berg Aukus, Grootfontein District
Otjozondjupa Region, Namibia
5.3 x 2.4 x 1.4 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $440

A lustrous, flattened crystal tree or leaf-like structure of oriented Descloizite crystals in super condition. A textbook example of epitaxial arrangement or stacking. The individual crystals are a dark red color in strong light but in normal light they look black to metallic silvery. The crystals are undamaged, some are also transparent. Great form and sparkling luster, these fine Berg Aukus specimens have become rare in this quality. The Descloizites from this closed mine are regarded as the best ever found and are modern classics.

Fluorite -enclosing Shorl
stock #18.1-592
Erongo Mountain, Karibib
Erongo Region, Namibia
3.5 x 3.4 x 2.4 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $320

The Erongo Mountains sometimes produce some very exotic and amazing Fluorites. This is an excellent example with stacked "melted look" crystals completely enclosing crystals and sprays of Schorl. The Fluorites are all Spinel twinned, the highly etched surface gives an unusual look and the whole piece is simply bizarre. In fine condition a neat small miniature.

Fluorite -dark zoned
stock #14.1-415
Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang County, Chenzhou Pref.
Hunan Province, China
4.1 x 3.3 x 2.5 CM (miniature)
price: $350

very sharp single cube perched on a shard of matrix, mostly Muscovite. The Fluorite has very deep purple zones and masses on the outer edges the center core is transparent and a light blue color. Very glassy luster as in all the better Yaoganxian Fluorites. The display side is perfect damage wise, there is contacting and cleaves on the back. Better in person, this is from mining in the 2004-5 season when a very rich area was worked. The locality no longer produces anything like this.

Smithsonite with Mimetite
stock #16.1-672
Tsumeb
Otjikoto Region, Namibia
5.2 x 3.2 x 3 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $360

Cuprian Smithsonite from Tusmeb fills an open seam on the matrix and has partly covered several golden Mimetite crystals. In fine condition, ex. Loben collection (with label) collected in 1986, close to the end of the Tsumeb era. The Mimetites are the slender pointed type and the overgrowth of the Smithsonite crystals is like a cloak. Great luster and excellent condition, the paragenesis is especially clear on this specimen.

Enstatite (doubly terminated) on Almandine
stock #18.1-507
Barton Garnet mine, Gore Mountain, North River
New York, United States
2.4 x 1.6 x 1.2 CM (thumbnail)
price: $300

A rare doubly terminated, complete enstatite (Hypersthene) crystal 2 CM long on bright red Alamandine. From the famed Gore Mt Garnet locality that produced huge masses of Almandine years ago. Hypersthene was also fairly common but mostly massive or very poorly formed. This Enstatite is crude but with clear form with a melted edge look. The crystal is perfect, undamaged and nicely perched on the Garnet matrix, this is not typically a pretty mineral but this crystal has charm. This is the best formed and most distinct Enstatite I have seen from the locale, a fine thumbnail for the region.

Pyrargyrite on Manganoan Calcite
stock #AX-10-796
Pachapaqui District, Bolognesi Province
Ancash Department, Peru
7 x 4.9 x 4.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $400

Pyrargyrite crystals in small clusters and individuals are scattered on a pink Manganoan Calcite matrix. Individual crystals are up to 7MM. Some of the edge crystals have some chipping but the center portion is pristine. A few of the small clusters have the "raspberry" form and are hollow crystal aggregates best appreciated with magnification. A nice ruby Silver specimen that has a nice colored micro crystalline matrix as a contrast.
