Hubeite, Apophylliteand Quartz
stock #Alec-15-074
Daye Iron Mine, Edong Mining District, Huangshi Prefecture
Hebel Province, China
6.4 x 6.3 x 4 CM (cabinet)
price: $425
Spring 2017

A great composition cluster with gemmy clear Quartz crystals hosting clear tabular crystals of Apophyllite and hundreds of rosette form Hubeites. These are not usually pretty minerals but this is an fine exception. In impeccable condition, very few specimens reached this level of quality, and none are not coming out now. From the type locality for Hubeite this is as fine as these crystals ever found, and the coverage is very dense. Better in person, this piece is Ex Shields Flynn collection obtained from directly from Bert Ottens.
Prehnite -sharply crystalized
stock #A-16-480
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
2.9 x 1.8 x 1.7 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $330
Spring 2017

A textbook form presented in a cluster of sharp crystals. Well crystallized prismatic Prehnite is quite rare and the best in the world are from old finds at the Jeffrey mine. This specimen is perfect by naked eye with only very tiny contacts and chipping found with 10X magnification. A delicate pale green that looks almost white in some light, this is just a whisker too large to be a thumbnail but could be trimmed to fit if desired. No stains or encrustations, just lustrous bright Prehnite.
Caledonite, Linarite etc with Leadhillite (type locale)
stock #15.1-534
Leadhills, South Lanarkshire
Strathclyde, Scotland
5.3 x 3.6 x 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $560
Spring 2017

A sizable and colorful old specimen of Caledonite with crystals to 4mm mixed in a massive, platy mass. The matrix is a mass of Leadhillite and altered galena and hosts areas of other Lead species including Pyromorphite, Linarite etc. While several crystals are reasonably sharp and transparent when magnified , the overall look is a "melted", opaque appearance. Leadhills is the type locale for both Leadhillite and Caledonite, this is a particularly good coverage and size.
Cornwallite with Azurite - classic USA
stock #16.1-762
Tintic District
Utah, United States
3.8 x 3.7 x 2 CM (miniature)
price: $390
Spring 2017

A rich vug of nearly pure Cornwallite surrounded by Azurite. Outstanding form with fine and distinct sheaves and spherical masses. With several old labels dating to the late 19th century, (Erinite was the old group name for Cornwallite and Chalcophyllite). Dense coverage with no damage, an unusual and attractive USA specimen of this uncommon Copper mineral.
Brucite on Andradite
stock #16.1-326
N'chwaning Mine, Kalahari Fields, Kuruman
Northern Cape Province, South Africa
7.8 x 6.4 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $700
Spring 2017

A pearly blue ball of Brucite crystals sits neatly on top of a contrasting Andradite matrix. An attractive setting for this usually unimpressive mineral, this is quite esthetic and in fine condition. The matrix is well crystalized on all sides, so it is a floater and the Garnets are especially lustrous on the back side. This would be a really nice specimen of Andradite on its own, but with the Brucite this is especially choice.
Beryl v. Aquamarine -second generation
stock #Alec-19-045
Erongo Mountain, Karibib
Erongo Region, Namibia
4 x 3.9 x 3.4 CM (miniature)
price: $140
Winter 2016-17

A gemmy sharp Beryl is growing from a cluster of older, darker etched crystals. Very nice composition and in good condition, this is an eye catching small Erongo specimen. The main Beryl also has some etching and wispy inclusions, best seen with magnification. Reasonable cost for an attractive gem crystal.
Mimetite -Gemmy accicular crystals
stock #7AE-334
Pingtouling Mine, Liannan, Sanjiang
Guangdong, China
6.5 x 4.4 x 2.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $460
Winter 2016-17

From the now classic finds over a decade ago, this is a bright yellow mass of Mimetite crystals on a solid Gossan matrix. An early piece(vintage 2002)that is not like most of the Pingtouling Mimetites, the crystals are more elongated and some are tapered. In fine condition there are crystals on all sides of the matrix but the side shown is by far the best display face. A choice piece from a closed locale, no longer available.
Boleite -large single crystal
stock #Alec-2-006
Santa Rosalia (El Boleo), Boleo, Municipio de Mulege
Baja California, Mexico
.9 x .8 x .7 CM (thumbnail)
price: $575
Winter 2016-17

A big, sharp and complete Boleite crystal from finds in the early 70s. The diagonal measurement is 1.3 CM, with great color and in pristine condition, the photos pretty much show it well. It is now quite hard to find crystals with such sharp edges, bright luster and large size.
